The Japanese have this superstition that the number four (and nine) is unlucky so I'm skeptical about the official name being PlayStation 4.

Yakuza 4 came out of Japan with great success.
The name should be Playstation 4. Never have I seen a company use the codename as the actual name.

With the "4" issue for Japan, I don't think it matters. While Japan is important to Sony they are not going to change the name for the entire world just because it's unluckily in Japan. Not gonna happen.

I think they will go with Orbis to be in line with Vita. I will still be calling it PS4.

I was kind of thinking that with the Vita they were going to shift to a new type of naming system. Vita isn't a generic name like the PSP was. I don't hate Orbis but I would rather it be PS4.
