you know, just in my opinion, I think we Canadians work a LOT more cooperative in these kinda situations. (compare this thread to the "other" thread) Its great how each of us are helping each other to find store # in Canada.
GO GO CANADA!
Btw, I've talked to some of the less minor BB in Toronto, they said that they aren't taking preorder yet, but if they are, it will be in full amount, to guarentee a machine or something.
Also, Toronto/Vancouver are probably the most frequent places to have the most PS3's around. I've heard from EB near Scarborough Town, they said that they got bout 25-30 xbox360 systems AND even after a week, a couple of the core systems were still on shelf.
Some Sony Stores starting to take names down, not for preorder, but for future information about # of consoles per store kinda thing.

No way dude, there would be TOO many stores and not enuf employment if those #'s were in thousands. Remember, Canada only has a population of 30 - 35 million lols.
wierd tho, with some of em im really off. I searched google and got those numbers, didnt actually go to the stores website and look at location 1 by 1. Good way of doing it tho.
Thanks alot Beast, this will definately give us more accuracy.

The number of stores. Theres 45 best buy stores in Canada alone heehee.
Man, when we all get a PS3, we'll have to get each others game names or however it works with PS3 online. CANADA FTW!PSN: StrifeTribal

So no PS3 at Costco Canada on launch day?
Did anyone check? I prefer to get it from Costco for the extended warranty.
-
10-08-2006 #60
No Costco won't have any types of that stuff. I was hoping on something like that too, but we'll have to wait like a year before something like that happens.

Dude I think your onto something, I just called a location in Vancouver and hes like he would love to give me a pre-order, but theres something wrong with the computer program or w/e software they use to enter me in with the pre-orders. I think he was talking about the sku's n stuff. I asked if I should check back in later, and hes like check back in on tuesday, he said manager would be back on monday, From where? I dunno.
But yea, I gunna try a few other vancouver block buster locations and see wat they have to say. Thanks alot.

. Let me know if there is any changes I need to make, and I will do so for V 6.0.

ok here are the numbers for walmart and sears...i dont feel like writing all the provinces right now and i dont see how it will help in any way so these are otals in all of canada...
Walmart - 273 stores
Sears - 124 stores
But for sears i dont think they will be selling ps3's the sears in erin mills town centre, mississauga. doesnt have a games section so i would think that they wont sell it...
Also in your update you put eb games as eventually will start preorders...but from my local eb games they told me first come first serve only...and im having doubts abt canada getting 40000 units since my eb games said they will be lucky to get 10...maybe he didnt know what he was talking abt...

Does anyone have information or experience regarding first come first serve on launch day? If a store opens at 9 am, how early do you think people will start lining up? Also, will stores allow people to buy more than one unit per person?

Thank you for answering and also thanks to everyone else for making this forum! If I hadn't stumbled across it, I would have had no chance at a PS3. I'm still a little confused though. What happens at a store in a mall? For example, Yorkdale is huge, and let's say that the EB Games there offered first come first serve. How could people line up several hours prior to opening if the mall itself is closed? You couldn't even coordinate a lineup since there are several entrances scattered around the mall. Also, has anyone heard anything about midnight madness events in Toronto?

Well, any pre-orders that date back from last year or something I find false. I dont know, it doesnt really count for Canada, because they havent had any pre-orders, but I know for America some stores have just cancelled their lists and will start from scratch.
But for Canadians, there is still alot of hope. Looking at the list, there will be alot of pre-orders going around, maybe not yet but eventually pre-orders will start. If you again look at the list, EB Games, Best Buy, and Futureshop look like stores that will have huge quantities to start pre-order. I dunno bout walmart, but I would think the rest should start pre-orders soon.
I really dont want to have to wait outside in the cold, and this list is going to help us lots, just keep checking with your local stores guys!

Oh those, you will have to wait till the mall opens and then RUN, and i mean RUN, as fast as you can against everyone waiting at the doors to line up to be first at EB. A lot of stores in malls are like that, esp the ones that have only one door, from the mall.
Midnight madness = none that i've heard of in Toronto.
Btw majin, toyrus has done their preorder A LONG time ago, for stores in Toronto, not sure bout otheres... so maybe u can have a sign like... a checkmark or something, to note that preorders are done for which retail company

Hey guys! I stumbled upon this place looking for places taking PS3 pre-orders like the rest of you! Glad I found a place where fellow canucks can share the latest info.
Yes, the Toys R Us at my locations (others places possibly as well) in Mississauga were taking PS3/Wii preorders back in Feb and March when there wasn't a price annouced for either system. 50 bucks down and you had to buy it in a bundle (2 games + 2 controllers) according to toysrus.ca
Rogersvideo.ca were taking preorders but they sold out in 5 mins! Was told about 40-70 PS3 units were available, not sure since I missed out on it
So the previous poster who said that rogers video was doing first come at stores during launch was surprising news to me, but i think its unlikey to happen, just too many stores and few units
Link to the rogersvideo.ca PS3 preorder page

Anyways, please share watever info you can, I may drop by my local EB on tuesday and see whats up too.

Alright, I've figured out how I'm going to secure myself and a few friends some PS3's at launch. I'm going to get a job at one of Future Shop, Best Buy, Wal-Mart, etc. and make sure I have a shift the morning of the launch. Bam, guaranteed myself some sweet PS3's. Seriously, this is my freakin' plan. People should pay me to think for them.

Hey majin, good job on version 5.
A few updates though, Rogers Video has already taken pre-orders online....they had like 150, and the rest are going to be in stores first-come-first-serve...check this link to see the info http://www.rogersvideo.ca/promo/feat...nsoles2006.htm
Some Sony Stores ARE taking pre-orders eventually, so you should maybe change that to the "Up to the Manager's Decision" symbol.
The number of units going to Best Buy/Future Shop has me excited....Knowing what we know now, what % of those do people think are going to be pre-orders/first-come?
