MotorStorm developer Evolution Studios has taken the stage at PlayStation Meeting 2013 to announce Drive Club, a new, first-person racer for PlayStation 4.
The game features club-vs-club racing and players can share matches online. Cars have been recreated with “obsessive love” and every track is packaged with challenges. Players can walk into the car themselves and even strap themselves in.

I was glad to see a new game from Evolution Studios and it looked awesome.

This game looks freaking awesome. I'm buying a PS4 day 1.

I think this should have gone more in the route of TDU, being open world/free roam. That is a big let-down.
Except that, it looks interesting.

Forza

Is it strictly cockpit view? That would be a bad move.
All the detail is cool for demonstration purposes, but as a game it needs to grab the gamers through the gameplay. I wasn't thrilled about all the emphasis on "each thread of fabric" or the most realistic metal ever. It needs to be a great, fun drive.
However if there's a enough car-philes out there to make this game popular, then great. I just don't see this being really mainstream.

Forza. And by that, I mean kids who love racing games seem to love supercars. Even though Forza includes daily drivers like Honda Civics, they give you the potential to turn every ride into a Corvette killer. And they do. I was appalled when I was playing Forza to go online and see nothing but servers full of A Class racing and above. And those are the Ferraris and Lamborghinis, and most of those tuned up with performance parts too. And that's fun for a while, but my lord, racing the equivalent of an F-16 around a track for more than a half hour gives me a headache and the twitches.
Gran Turismo is way more my speed, giving me access to more cars and a group of online folk who appreciate the finesse required to be competitive in a 180hp 240SX or 250hp Mustang. I even saw servers set up for the old VW van! I can take a MkIII Supra on soft street tires and have a very similar experience to doing it in RL in my ride. I can connect directly with my car in a way I can't with any other racer. That includes Forza 4, as admirable as it is in some ways, and my GT5 Supra doesn't sound like it comes with a Borla exhaust bolted on. I never upgraded a single exhaust in F4 because of the overblown engine noise. Jeepers...
Anyway, Drive Club doesn't look like my kind of game, even if the physics is incredible. It seems too much like Test Drive married Project Gotham and had a kid. Stupendously realistic graphics and vroom-vroom noise is only good for so long. The driving is what matters, and even with a few issues, I get that in GT5 in spades and diamonds. So, most likely GT6 will be what I wait for.Now writing: two Ratchet & Clank novels, a Sly 4 novel, and two rock albums

I hope the detail on the engines and the seats does not effect the MUCH MUCH more important aspects, like the environment details.

Looks awesome, I don't remember ever seeing a game with details of getting into a car like that.

Looks decent enough, just can't help but feel GT will come out and kill any interest I got for this and project cars already looks better.

Dude seemed really enthusiastic about how much care and detail was put into the car models, which is nice I guess. I love racing games and this is 100% on my radar. I was just expecting GT6
My fault I guess!
Nice to see Evo doing something other than Motorstorm as well

So it's like Fight Club with cars?
Like you said Nitey, he sounded like he was about to blow a wad on stage just talking about the cars. I kid. It is nice to see when devs are really excited about their games. It leads you to believe they care more about pleasing everyone with a great game than dollars signs.
