Why Sony didn't show us the PS4?

Because they probably haven't come up with a final design yet or they are just hiding some super secret hardware from us.

I am sure they are just tweaking the design, kinda like how the 2005 E3 PS3 that they showed was slightly different than the final design! (the final design got a little fatter, etc.)

Agreed! I am hoping it is around the PS3 slim dimensions (not the super slim)! I am also guessing they will want to mimic design points from the DS4 and the PS4 Eye, so looking at the designs of those two items I have been conjuring up ideas in my head of what it will look like! Just go back and look at the original PS Eyetoy, it looks like the PS2, the PS Eye had design aspects of the PS3 so I take a look at the PS4 Eye and let your head run wild! I am expecting a more boxy style with indented small indented lines like the newer camera.

Also, notice the dotted pattern on the camera as well as the touch sensitive pad on the controller, I have a feeling the console will have those as well!

im loling at some of the responses im seeing around the internet. All the sony bashers are out in full force. Lots of "im very disappointed in the ps4 reveal because they didnt show it"

Everyone has already said it. You have to save stuff for E3. When MS announces everyone will be on that train, so you have to counter with new stuff.

Yep pretty much. It's not the end of the world like many on the Internet are saying. They just got out of the gate first. Who cares if everything wasn't shown in its final form. Just leaves me with that much more to look forward to at e3. Instead of seeing and hearing the same stuff over.

Uhm... What about the controller had any Carbon Fiber look to it? It's matte plastic finish, nothing even close to resembling Carbon Fiber.

I'd think a carbon fiber look would be cool for the console (and controller) but I wouldn't hold my breath on it.

Well to a little defense of that statement the slim was a matte finish but the controller was still glossy. it would be a bit strange having that big of a difference between the controller and the console but it would look beast!

Looking at some Carbon Fiber images on Google I guess I can see how it can be mistaken or seen as a Carbon Fiber like look from a distance.

That said I do like the textured back rather than just a smooth back like with the DS3. It adds a really nice look to the controller and something like that may look nice on the console as well.

Yep... the back of the controller looks reminiscent of carbon fiber. I know it obviously isn't, but the texture appears that way.

The PlayStation 4 announcement didn't show any of the console itself, but did show the redesigned controller. The DualShock 4 bears a lot in common with its predecessors, with a few tweaks like the touch pad and dedicated Share button. And while Sony isn't quite ready to call it the final design, it's close.


Sony Worldwide Studios head Shuhei Yoshida told Engadget that the controller is "near final" with some "small tweaks" yet to go. The console itself is "still in development in terms of final specs and design," which explains why we didn't see it.

Yoshida also pointed out that he favored giving those in attendance at the reveal event some hands-on time with the console, but says the hardware designers were uneasy with journalists finding "some detail" that isn't meant to be public just yet. He claimed that people will be able to start playing it "by E3, I think."

Interesting and whilst id like to see it I don't find it that important as its what it can do that is more important and how you control it.

Sony can respond by showing the ps4 and BOOM ( i mean if it looks better)

It's why SONY did not go all out, THEY want to keep some surprises that they can show to make sure they are not forgotten what MS reveal their console.

BUT i mainly think its because the design is not finalised yet ( especially considering many devs were surprised with the 8b ram)
