Your right, it doesn't exist in the PC world. IT EXISTS IN THE TABLET WORLD. JAGUAR IS A TABLET CPU.

    2X Samsung Galaxy.

and the memory is GDDR5 which which is unified, again not happening in the PC world, only video cards in the PC world get GDDR5 everything else your best option is DDR3 which is much much slower...so while it is the same architecture, the stuff inside consoles is more custom designed and optimized for gaming...
If the memory isn't unified then the system memory can be much, much slower without any performance penalty, because the CPU is also much, much slower than a GPU. As long as the GPU has GDDR5 and the CPU has DDR3 then there are no bottlenecks.

I won't even get into comparing the amount of RAM. Let's just say my PC at home has more than twice as much as the PS4.

However, you can get a current PC video card with more than twice the memory bandwidth of the PS4, and unlike the PS4 that PC video card doesn't have to share that bandwidth with the CPU. What does that tell you?

It should tell you that there is already a significant limitation in the PS4 because the entire system has less than half the bandwidth of a PC video card by itself. Based off memory bandwidth alone I can confidently say that most games will still be 720p native and upscaled to 1080p.

I know that some RAM is suppose to be reserved for the OS, but it is a tiny amount compared to what is available! People just don't understand while the architecture is similar, the way they are used are radically different compared to PC systems.

And yet people seem to forget this bit with every new generation of consoles.

I forgot you are a hardware engineer...seriously, if you are just wanting to stir up shit with the specs you probably need to head over to this thread:

As I said on the first page of this thread.....

You just have to accept the fact that the PS4 is only about equal to a current mid-range gaming PC and optimization will only get you so far.

This is NOT a PS3. It's no where near as customized. It's all off the shelf parts, basically a really powerful tablet with a proper PC GPU.
Yes, but what´s your point ? That everybody should buy a PC and not a console ? I have not read all of this this thread but have someone claimed that consoles are more powerful then PC or something ? I think most of us accept the fact that ps4 and xbox 720 will never reach PC peformance wise, we just like the fact that sony will realese a PS4 that meets both gamers and devs wishes. The PS3 (being special and all) was not a hit with the devs so sony went with "off the shelf" parts to make them happy, is that a problem in your opinion ?

Actually no, it doesn't exist yet. Please show me a tablet using a jaguar.

Oh, that's right i forgot there isn't one yet. I'm sure you know the performance numbers of a chip that is not yet on the market and you made your assumption based on that!!

Wow shows how much Sony are "futureproofing" if they are using hardware before it even exists.

If its anything more than £300 its a rip off.

You do realize that a Quad Core A9 and a Quad Core x86 based CPU are not the same thing right? There's no Quad Core x86 tablets out there right now, though AMD does have plans to build one targeted at the Tablet and Laptop world. That's NOT the 'Jaguar', it's not going to be in the class.

You talk a bunch of hype, and while you can always show what's in the PC world that's going to be 'better, faster, etc.' it's not at the same price point (at least while at console launch date.) And it's not a focused architecture which dev's can really optimize for instead of worrying about all the inefficiencies built into our PCs today.

Keep in mind this is a console, the price point is going to be much less than a high end gaming rig period or else it won't sell.

Your comments appear to come from a true lack of System Understanding and a belief that the PC architecture is a masterpiece that is unrivaled.

Personally, I see this architecture of being able to handle 1080p60 easily and with a much higher polygon count beyond what we've seen to date on game consoles.

Will it beat a $3K purpose built game console on day one. Nope, but it doesn't have to when it cost as much as a 10" Tablet (and probably less than an iPad.)

Well overall I must say. I'm quite happy with all the specs that are coming out. Devs are too, which is a huge gain. Sony definitely made this system for the devs as an apology of sorts for the PS3. It might have been ambitious to go with the cell but it definitely hurt the PS3 early on. I think I'm most excited to get my hands on that controller. Man it looks like it is going to be a sweet addition to the DS family. So let's do a small check list. Devs happy...check, fans happy...mostly check , reveal a success...check. Looks like they are heading in the right direction. I couldn't be happier with Sony right now.

I know this isn't PS4 related and it is kind of old, but to get an idea what someone can do with such little resources check out this page:

    http://www.theproduct.de/

Scroll down and download demo 1, 2 and 4, which are all each under <=64kB in size and run them and be amazed what can be done if you know how to optimize code and your resources!

I believe they will but I really don't care either way. I have enought HDMIs lying around that it will just add to the pile. I think if they didn't want to kick you in the face they will. You know since you are getting an HD console and they give you SD cables. It's like "WTF am I supposed to do with this?!"

I am hoping they just do away with the port for analog connections all together, make it HDMI or bust!

True! If you still have a tube TV you shouldn't be buying a PS4!

I bought my first HDTV in 2007 because the month before I bought a PS3 and playing it on n SD TV looked crappy, everythng looked tiny and blurred things like HUD and text prompts were impossible to read.
