It appears all rumors on the specs were true.

I'm looking forward to see the actual hardware and try all those new features.

They are PDF files. I was trying to get the info out a little fast. Perhaps I should have saved my work in PNG instead of JPEG.

Single Chip AMD x86-64, 8 cores "Jaguar" CPU
1.84 TFLOPS Next-Gen radeon based GPU
    8GB GDDR5 176GB/s unified memory (wowzers)

So the DS3 has a 570 mAh battery, and the DS4 has 1000 mAh (although it says tentative). I wonder if it'll last longer or if the added features will take up more power.

The extra baterry power will most likely compensate for the light, touchpad, speakers etc. I don't think it will last longer

Yeah I dont know what that's all about to be honest? Maybe you can hear people in online games through there, but with the inclusion of a mono headset, what's the point ;/

I am stunned that some people appear to love their Playstation(1,2,3) or Xbox(360) more than I love the Denver Broncos.
    Trust me, it's sad

Yeah a throw in like how 360 does it. Best way to go to build a more connected, social platform as far as I'm concerned

The console will still support wireless blutooth or hench USB headsets for that market

...then why not include a BT headset with every console???

BT mics/headsets are not cheap by any means and for the mic itself to have features in the PS4 like the PS3 had with Sony mics, it will cost about what you expect from a Sony mic, upwards of 29.99 to even 49.99 for that. This method on the other hand while not BT obviously, it still plugs into a BT controller but is by far cheaper. So if they are packaging a mic in every single PS4, they have to be able to afford it without losing a buttload of money per unit sold.

How does this compare to the PS3? Are there any more hard numbers so you can do direct comparison of the GPU in the PS4 to the PS3? I'd like to see a side by side comparison chart but it seems like they were specifically short on these kinds of things.

It is precisely a metric duckload more powerful than PS3.

Honestly, we can't do a comparison right now because they withheld specific details about the hardware. All they said is it will have 8 GB of GDDR5 unified memory, which is a new technology being developed by AMD. It will also have a Jaguar CPU, which is another new tech being developed by AMD. The speed of the processor and the details of the GPU are non-existent at the moment, other than the GPU is "specialized".
"The biggest adversary in our life is ourselves. We are what we are, in a sense, because of the dominating thoughts we allow to gather in our head. All concepts of self-improvement, all actions and paths we take, relate solely to our abstract image of ourselves. Life is limited only by how we really see ourselves and feel about our being. A great deal of pure self-knowledge and inner understanding allows us to lay an all-important foundation for the structure of our life from which we can perceive and take the right avenues.

The PS4 hardware looks like a mixed bag, from a performance perspective. The best part of it is obviously the 8GB of shared GDDR5 RAM. That is 16 times more memory than the old consoles and should provide for quite some longevity.

What we know about the GPU indicates that it's decent. Significantly faster hardware has already been available on the PC side since the end of 2011, but putting such expensive and especially power hungry hardware in a small and cheap box was probably not viable.

Now, if the rumors are true the CPU is the biggest disappointment. From what we've seen so far, this eight core 1.6GHz CPU should end up somewhere around the general purpose performance of 2007 year's Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 (2.66GHz), provided all eight threads are well used. This has not been considered high end for years and the low single thread performance is especially worrying. Given the choice, a low number of high performance cores is usually preferable over a high number of cores with low performance.

All in all, I'm still quite excited about this new generation. The difference coming from the current gen will be very noticeable.

GDDR5 is old tech and putting 8GB of it on a PCB and sharing it is not new tech.
