The Future Of Indie Gaming ( Example Witness ) On PS4

Ok i seen like others the new indie game WITNESS and i seen a new path for indie game designers and gamer's... And it seems like they are moving into GAME DESIGN like well known GAME COMPANIES aka Ubisoft

Will we lose the independence creative thinking of INDIE CREATORS and just move into another GAME COMPANY

Sony apparently will be allowing self publishing on the PSN...or something similar. a big wig at Epic games was going on about it but i wasn't paying attention

will no doubt give steams greenlight a run for its money

What do you mean?

Indie development has been on a big rise this generation due to digital distribution, especially on the PC. It could be said it was technically non-existent before. I expect the next generation to continue this trend.

I was watching the giantbomb feed of the event, and one of the commentators mentioned about there being the same 5 step process to self publishing that the PS3 had.

If anything the PS4 wil have plenty of indie titles just like PS3 has had.

The relationship between the console and the indie game developer was one that practised segregation and privilege; the developer was supposed to be ‘grateful’ to have their game accepted on the console’s store, as if it were a favor and not a mutually beneficial deal. As such, developers were treated to ineffective or minimal promotion, limits and restrictions on file sizes and pricing policies, as well as extortionate costs for patches and maintaining good customer relationships. The feeling was that those managing these store fronts were being forced to bring indie games in against their will, rather than actively trying to embrace them and treat their player base to a variety of games and experiences they wouldn’t have had otherwise.
