Probably just me, but TLOU looks like a next gen game IMO, which is what I kinda expected since next gen will be pretty much better res/better FPS/better AA etc. there's not much more they can do to make graphics more realistic at this point. Can't wait to see what Naughty Dog can do with PS4 but graphics wise I doubt there'll be that much of a leap except TLOU graphics in a true open world game.

It's not even close. Naughty Dog really knows how to polish their games and they should be praised heavily for that, but The Last of Us was utterly blown away by Watch Dogs and Killzone. I'm hyped for the game too, but don't blind yourself, Aaron.

I don't think it's fair to compare a next-gen title to current-gen. The game looks great and I'm sure it'll play great but it's no surprise that it would be blown away by some of the titles Sony showed yesterday.
Especially DriveClub.

I dont know about that Aaron. That opening scene in Killzone yesterday blows away anything I've seen on console this gen. TLOU does look amazing but c'mon now those PS4 games were on a whole different level.

TLOU looks amazing, but doesn't come close to what we saw last night imho.

Too lazy to post gifs of yesterdays games but I agree with everyone here that those games blow away TLOU.
TLOU impresses me as a current gen game but I was never wow'd by the visuals of it even when they showed off the announcement trailer.
It was very easy to accept that it was in engine.
Last nights demos wow'd me in the sense where I thought is this possible in real time? XD
Killzone's detail, lighting was very impressive. The dust on the floor, the smoke and fire everywhere was exciting.
One moment where the player is hanging on the rope and they pass under the skyscrapers sky bridge was amazing to see, reminded me of the first time I saw ratche and clanks first ps3 game.
There was alot of particle effects, reflections and great lighting on showcase. Even the Saboteurs (first enemy killed) hood/coat stood out to me at how nice it looked.
Deep down held the biggest wow factor for me and made me wonder if it was in real time or a target render. The fire particles of the dragon, the sheild melting at the end and that moment where it supposedly switched to "gameplay" handing the orc the torch. Amazing stuff. Compare this to skyrim/ dark souls/ dragons dogma for comparison.
Knack didnt scream out as next gen however, but I think it was just my disappointment at the character design for the protagonist.
compare it to crash, spyro, ratchet, sly and jax and he doesn't have that same cartoon hero feel.

I have to agree that, The Last of Us doesn't look nearly as good as what we saw yesterday. Graphics wise of course.
If they can pull this level of performance on an old console then I can't imagine what they will be capable of with the, Playstation 4.

Quantic Dream barely showed anything. Bad example.

Nothing looks better than that Killzone footage I watched. And most of what we seen are just tech demos, not full games that have had 2 years of development.

What do you mean most of them? Knack, DriveClub, inFAMOUS: Two Sons, Watch Dogs and especially The Witness (at four years) are full games. If you want to complain about tech demos, look no further than David Cage and that floating head that probably took all the PS4's hardware to render.

Does TLOU look better? No. Does it look more consistent? Yes.
This is usually what happens when you compare a late-generation game on a previous console to a launch game on the successor.Last edited by Bio; 02-22-2013 at 01:42.

I have to agree with most of the members here bruh! TLOU definitely looks well designed and graphics are realistic, however not a next-gen game! TBH, I can't wait to see how games on PS4 will look like!

TLOU looks fucking insane for a PS3 game... and the differences from PS3 to PS4 are going to be in a lot of other things like on screen polycounts... draw distances...effects... higher resolution textures and over higher resolution output...
looks at the cityscapes in these (best i could find of distant city in tlou)
TLOU:

Killzone Shadow Fall:

the amount of stuff going on in realtime in killzone is effing mind blowing... from lighting to reflection, partical effect system (waterfalls) on screen NPCs in the background (that actual NPC's you interact with once you land near them seamlessly from the aircraft you were in in the demo)Last edited by SomaXD; 02-23-2013 at 08:08.

If you look at some videos/images of The Last of Us, Uncharted and many of the other great looking PS3 games you will notice that most of the rubble/debris are flat textures and stuff like flower petals, cloths and more are far more stationary.
This is not the case in the Killzone demo. Very little of the rubble/debris are actually flat textures and you have stuff like the flower petals, flags, cloths, tarps and more being blown around by the wind and/or explosions.
It just felt like there was always something moving on the screen. All of this might be considered little and easy to overlook(especially with everything going on), but it is this little stuff that gives the game more life to it than what we have seen with the current gen.Last edited by Ryunosuke; 02-23-2013 at 09:26.
