Industry expects Microsoft's response to PS4 in April

I see it might be before or after APRIL, around E3 if after APRIL and before APRIL. Mid MARCH would be an ideal reveal for the next gen xbox

It's kind of a double edged sword with their reveal now being after Sony's. Mid March sounds good for a reveal but do they show most of their cards? If not then people will probably say they were copying what Sony did. Apparently that is "rushed" from the opinions I've heard. If they do show everything they won't have much new to show at E3. But if they wait until E3 to do a full reveal there will be a great deal of scrutiny about waiting so long after Sony. In this scenario they will have to impress most as Sony did. I'm not going all doom and gloom. I'm merely saying MS is in a tough situation in deciding when to reveal. It isn't simply reveal at e3 anymore after the PS4 reveal. I think mid March is the best route but do a little more info than Sony did while reserving enough for e3.

Expecting third party exclusives these days isn't much of a business model. MS had to pay and arm and a leg just for exclusive and timed DLC. If Gears is still going then they'll have that but nothing else

If MS are going to have exclusive AAA games, they'll need to reconstruct the first party studios they dismantled a couple years after the 360 launched. They probably already have done that. 343 and Turn 10 just isn't enough

A next gen Monster Hunter from Capcom could fill that slot.
Sega may show ab excluve Jrpg they have been very quiet on next gen hardware.

Sega are supporting the PS4. I really doubt they're making any Xbox exclusives.

Good points actually, I wonder if Microsoft will aggressively tie down some Japanese titles like they did last gen. Depends how much they care about that market I guess

Do you really think MS's brand is strong enough to do what the ps3 did by launching late? I won't even bring up the price, just launching late to a Sony console.

Lets put it this way. If sony launches early it sure as hell won't be long before MS follows. As to whether their brand is strong enough, I think that question has already been answered by Sony themselves. They wouldn't be doing what they are now if it wasn't.

Continuing to think what? I basically just answered your question. It's what I think. I don't get caught up in all that childish back and forth bickering about these consoles like others. For me it's about rational thinking rather than emotions or prejudices. I know I will be getting both at some point so i know I won't be missing out on anything.

well, I watched the PS4 reveal, so I know some of the multi-plats that are coming to Nextbox. be interesting to see how UBI soft make use of Kinect2.
Possibly EA to show off some stuff as well, of course.. i'm sure MS will want to keep stuff for E3 but maybe show some revitalized Xbox IP.

Because the core xbox player is not into JRPG. Lost Odyessey was phenomenal game. You also said JRPGs have gone down the crapper?? Have you not played the Tales game? Ni no Kuni? White Knight Chronicles? Star Ocean(crappy story great game play)? Eternal Sonata? Next gen will be even more packed with JRPG because they tried to "westernize" their games because people wanted it(not the loyal JRPG just the new breed of console people) and they failed so they staying tried and true.

The only way you will see a JRPG on Xbox is if they multi plat, or xbox decideds they want a bigger chunk of the Japan market, which is not likely. Xbox knows what it is good at selling and is sticking to it.

Ni no Kuni is right there in my sig, and yeah I have actually played most of those plus a bunch of niche JRPGs you didn't mention, they're just not up there with what we had on the SNES and PS1.

I think Microsoft will really play up to the mainstream media. Celebrities, Kinect, lots of talk about convergence etc.
