HI guys,"Game Making"
I know, almost every each one of you want to make a game,probably,hopefully
So, I decided to make this thread,so we can share our thoughs,tactics,tips,tricks
to how to make a game!

I personally want to make a sandbox game but i don't know how to start it,because i didn't take school about it or option(england).
So if anyone can help just write here!

I'm about to start getting into it. I hear c++ is the language you want to learn but i think i'm going to start with java.
there's some good tutorials and "classes" online like codecademy.com
theres also a game that helps you learn to code called code hero it was a kickstarter but they're a little slow with the updates so im not sure how far along they are with the project.

but my game i'm going to start is a 3rd person action adventure with strong rpg elements. Maybe after I get some art and music I'll post some updates.

Knowing both C++ and Java, I'd say java is easier to learn however I like C++ better

i have my brain, a brandy and a shit load of time... I would like to make a game.

i just need the right story and location and i am all set.

I am going to be posting my theory on the next ELDERS SCROLL game soon

My problem is the opposite LOL
I have too many ideas but i can't "CREATE"

Cuz' i like it because you can create it's so good

You are young so keep the spirit, don't know the reason but I hear c++ all the time when it comes to game programing. As a software engineer, I love Java much more tho...

I know a little C++, he said tongue firmly in cheek...

If you really want the view of an indie developer I will tell you this.

Its a bloody hard road to hoe.
You will need to pick a language, and likely an API.
For me it was C++ and DX 8

It is one thing to learn to programme, and write a game engine, it another to make your game come to life.

Align yourself with some talented 3d modelers

An indie team really needs 3 people.

A coder
A modeler
A texture artist.

yeah I didn't want to burst your bubble but like mynd said, its a HUGE task even if you already know programming, modelling etc
If you first have to learn everything than it will take years

Yea, go for it dude. The first thing you need is enthusiasm...without that there's nothing.

Ideas are awesome but be careful about ideas that aren't practical. It's not about who had the better idea but who had the better idea that fit the memory.

I had sheets of paper filled with ideas that I would put in my game. Now I know I'll never make it because I can never develop the skills necessary.

I'm saying if you have enough dedication to pursue your goal for years than go for it. I gave up on mine

Dont give up, just dial back your expectations for your first game.
Start by making a clone of something simple (pac man etc) then work your way up.

I have millions of ideas,we need few people who can actually do programming modelling etc.

I'm doing some game making as part of
My current course.

Start off with flash and even muck around with game
Maker. Just start doing some smaller projects and flash games toget a feel for it. Work your way up and just keep doing stuff
