Yeah I really don't see that happening either. It would have already have had to of been announced already in my opinion. If it does get announced it will be at E3 and I just don't know why they would talk about any games coming out in the future by then that isn't for their new console that's launching later on this year that they so desperately want to convince you to buy. In my opinion we already know all the games that Sony is putting out for the current systems this year. It just makes way too much sense to have it be an early game for the PS4 to help sell the system even more.

Why would it take just as long for Gran Turismo 6 to come out? It'll have been three years since Polyphony Digital wrapped up development on Gran Turismo 5 which gives them plenty of time to tweak the game's engine.

I'm assuming the PS3 will continue to gain support from developers like it has with the PS2. I'd like to see a Gran Turismo on the PS4 eventually - as well as the PS Vita - but this is fine, honestly.

Am I the only one who would rather they focus development on GT6 for PS4 only? They should hit the ground running on that asap, if they haven't already. GT6 on PS3 just sounds like they've given themselves too short of a window to meet all of the ambitions they would likely have an abundance of...based on the several compromises that were made to GT5 before release.

I don't mind a ps3 version, but I think it's odd to jam a system seller on ps3 these days instead of solely focusing on a ps4 version (if that's being considered). If it becomes a cross-gen game, I feel it could be somewhat diluted, as most cross gen games were last gen. But an early released ps4 game (not necessarily launch) sounds amazing and will push major sales.

Actually, GT6 is a big game and Sony SHOULD release it for the PS4. If Sony released it on the PS3, it would be stupid because they can get more improvements on the PS4 version which would also sell more unites because of that game..

I think PS3 has enough great games this year to act as its swansong; God of War: Ascension, The Last of Us and Beyond: Two Souls. I don't think it needs another GT game.

True but it's relevancy drops tremendously. Another thing is GT has always been a core gamer's game. Most of them will be playing PS4. I'm not saying they won't sell much but I don't expect the sales to hit what GT5 did.

The difference between most games on the PS3 and Gran Turismo 5 is that Gran Turismo 5 has yet to see a sequel. Before God of War: Ascension, the only God of War game released on the PS3 was God of War III whereas inFamous, which saw a sequel on the PS3, has its third installment, Second Son, debut on the PS4.

Basically, if there is room for improvement on the PS3, you can bet developers will take the chance to utilize it. Especially Polyphony Digital. Not that they won't eventually jump on the PS4 bandwagon.

Absolutely there is no denying that. I want GT6 but me personally It's going to be hard to put down PS4 to play my PS3 just for GT6. And I'm a huge GT fan. I think with no backwards compatibility might hurt the title as well. Don't get me wrong if GT6 comes out on PS3 I will get it but it will be kind of hard to play it hardcore like I usually do with GT games with my PS4 sitting right there. That is to say that it comes out after PS4. Which at this point I'm sure it will come out around the same time if not a little after.

Bleghhh. Disappointed that it will be a PS3 title to be honest. I'm sure it will put right what GT5 got wrong but it makes me think we won't see a next-gen GT for a long time. Unless this is cross-gen -__-

GT6 on PS3 confirmed? Hmm, they're missing some untapped potential by staying with this generation, but there's still going to be a bigger audience on PS3 by the time GT6 is released. I feel like that is the main reason behind the decision.

It's probably a good idea when it's all said and done. Polyphony Digital probably want to take their time with development on PS4 as well (for GT7, I assume).

If the rumor is true then I will not be buying a PS4 any time soon, which is a huge disappointment.


But I can understand why they would do a PS3 release rather than a PS4 release. GT6 will unquestionably come with massive developmental costs that have to be recovered, and it would be near impossible to recover those costs on the PS4. There simply will not be enough people who own the system. It would take them 2 years to sell 10 million copies, and that's a long time to wait when you have bills to pay.

But from my own personal point of view, I would rather they delay the game a year and update it to the PS4 than release on the PS3. I sell my old consoles when I buy new ones, and having to choose between buying a PS4 and missing GT6, or sticking with a PS3 just for GT6 will not be a pleasant position for me to be in. I do not want any current generation console anymore, I want to move on, but I've got to have GT6.

Well, it's exactly like PS1 and 2. In the sixth year of their life cycle, the premier developers quickly bailed with perhaps one or two parting games, as they geared up for the new system. With a new Playstation imminent, their key franchises migrated to the new hardware.

Yes, but there are two Gran Turismo titles on PS3, and GT5 Prologue was a much bigger game than a simple demo. GT5 also took way too long to develop for there to justify a third title for PS3 "just because." They may well do it for PS3, they may make a version for both systems as has been said, but to cut PS4 out of the picture when it could seriously use a key system seller like GT6 sounds brain dead to me.

Except they worked on GT5 for more than four years. In the fourth and fifth years of a console's life cycle, just about all the performance has been squeezed from it. Polyphony took GT5 as far as they could, and still came up a little short, giving us a game that mostly looked incredible, but still had glaring graphic issues due to the performance gap incurred by the demands of the game. GT5 actually looked a little worse than Prologue!

In order for GT6 to have any hope of improvement, PD will have to cut back something. I doubt that 3D will go, so most likely, resolution will drop to 720p. Particle effects simplified. Damage system might be yanked rather than improved to free up processor overhead. Less than 16 car races, especially online. More basic lighting, other things that don't please me.

There are a LOT of reasons why GT6 should be on PS4, and here are my thoughts:

• Larger, more detailed worlds with lots of life in them: realistic flags, dynamic breezes, reactive crowds, etc
• Better graphics, with markedly better 3D performance and no issues
• Better physics, even with lots of cars
• Better A.I.
• Better weather modeling, including puddling and evaporation rate simulation
• Better damage modeling, by FAR
• Modeling of aspects of wear, such as brake fade
• Day/night transition on all tracks, with proper night lighting and headlights on all (relevant) cars
• Better online structure
• Larger race fields, making possible multiclass racing in more than two classes, off- or online
• Full featured Livery Editor
• Full featured Track Maker
• Full featured Movie Maker
• Full featured Photo Mode
• Full featured data tracker, including data base of game/season/career progress
• Spectator Mode for watching online championships or highly rated racers, and saving replays of them
• Help from friends around the world for achieving license tests and other extreme challenges

Among many things off the top of my head.

All of these are made possible with the higher capacity and power of PS4, and are far less likely or impossible on PS3. As I keep saying, in order for PD to improve on GT5, they have to cut back somewhere. They had four years or more to optimize GT5 for the Cell Engine, and that was as good as it got.
