PS4 Will Not Play CDs

Am amp and speakers do not play CD's, I currently have a Yamaha Amp hooked up to Q-Acoustic floor standers with the PS3, 360 and Sky Box and the PS3 is my CD player.

Well, I´m aware of that but I could not find the words for it... You know a setup for playing music? (don´t know the word for it) I´ve got a Bang Olufsen setup to play my music on and I have never even tried a CD in my ps3, but I guess some people want to play CD:s in their gaming console...

Nope, not even once! It has barely had any DVD's inside it, just mainly blu-rays!

I used to put cds in my ps3 or xbox when I'd be doing housework or playing guitar, but now I have a decent sound system and ipod dock so i don't bother anymore.

The PS1 versions of Wipeout or GTA in will play as an audio CD.
Probably not the only ones.

If I remember correctly, any of the games that had music in there you could put into a CD player and tracks 2 and beyond were the game's music. I remember Destruction Derby, Battle Arena Toshinden, etc. were all like that as well!

Ixion, how many CD stores do you still see around in your area? They just closed the last Specs store near me and FYE a couple of years ago. CDs are now obsolete. It's not necessary.

Still I don't understand why it don't support CD, its not something you add, its more taken away but for what reason
So basically this means PS4 don't support PSone disc, audio discs, picture discs
Pretty sucky if you ask me, PS4 isn't suppose to be a step down in media features
And CD still hold the a lot of sales in the market so its a bit odd

A really weird omission, I guess they must really want to push this Gaikai thing, I have a few vcds and music cds lying around, but nothing that hasn't been ripped so not really an issue. I guess it's time to move with the times.
If the faster drive's the culprit then so be it, but if it's a choice made by Sony, then I think they should reconsider. No 1 reason is ps1 native playback, if only for nostalgia. If they take out the cd playing feature, they should at least give us comprehensive lossless audio codec support (FLAC,WAV etc.) and more video codecs too.

It's looking more and more likely that the PS3 will be the last Sony home console I buy unless PS4 has some amazing RPGs (W or J) that are exclusive, I'll buy their handhelds but I'll be going PC only next gen.

CD quality is greater than mp3 at it highest bitrate.

No, sound quality is degraded
Bass is degraded, tops is distorted some bits of sound is sometimes completely missing
You wont here in you iPhone dock but with proper audio equipment or quality audio set up its very noticable
Speakers effect this too

Remember, mp3 is just a file codec. CDs are memory base products. I believe they took it out because it'd give the system more power with a spacious support for something else. I'm hoping that means with the Cloud service you'll be able to open a library filled with the past generations game titles. I'm still not sure how that suppose to work though.

Also, another reason why it makes sense to not implement CD capability because you also can hear music from those Sony applications and you got Youtube in there as well. Not that I'd even bother ever use them. Although you can see how expanded these features have their flexibility.

Robvandam didn't specify MP3's anyways -- and I was speaking in general too. CD's are obsolete to newer digital media. It was a bit random for TGO to specifically grab the MP3 format.
