Hi,
aside from the current crop of threads talking about desires related to gaming stuff, i'd like to discuss your non-gaming expectation for the ps4.
Here are mines
Multimedia : Support for any codec, file format (audio/video).
Right now, I have to stream through my PC using ps3 media server. It works OK, but it would be so much convenient if I could browse my files directely on the NAS.
Fast and efficient store
The current one is pathetic, especially when used from the ps3. You can't find a slower one. Get inspired by the leaders (amazon, android market, etc.).
0 sec (or extremely minimal) boot-up time.
Enough waiting ages for my ps3 to boot up. Again, too slow.
Minimal input lag with controllers (yes, gaming related).
If you played arcade pinball, you know what i mean. Go from 8ms to 2ms would be really nice
The rest of my expectation have been covered within the ps4 reveal.

Well the Ps4 also ready has the stand by function meaning game boot times will be effectively zero when resuming thus no real boot time. So you got that at least.
As for the controller response time, while I'm all for cutting latency where possible, cutting it at the controller stage is very much useless. The game codes adoption of input data is a bigger issue and the display output is so much worse. Last week I got a new TV and when I have Mirror content on the gamepad it is astounding just how much lag is between the machine rendering the image on the pad and putting it onscreen. Saving 6ns however noble is pointless in the face of other sources of latency.

Improved media ability. I want something that opens another UI and gives me a great looking interface, rather than a long laborious list of all my music. Something like XBMC would be absolutely perfect. Infact, let me install XBMC on it!!

A not terrible browser? Too much to hope for I guess

Honestly one of the things I'm most looking forward to aside from the games is a usable, modern OS. Immediacy, like they talked about. Sometimes using the PS3 is just painful. Like trying to bring up a message from a friend whilst in a more graphically intensive game. That shit can take up to 10 seconds, not good enough!

Out of all the features on the PS4 I would like to see a better web browser as the one that's on the PS3 is terrible. It can't be that hard to port Chrome or Firefox over to the PlayStation platform. With the PSP, some people managed to figure out how to put Opera on the PSP so how hard would it be to get Chrome on the PS4?

I f-ing HATE Cinavia!!! I bought a additional 2TB drive for my NAS specifically for storing ripped blu-rays (yes I own them) so I could just stream them to my PS3 in lossless quality (from the blu-ray) and Cinavia affects a ton of the files! Still trying to figure out a 100% fix around it, I have to do some goofy shit now when I want to watch any of my ripped stuff, it is a pain in the ass!

It would be nice if the PS4 had the capabilities of channels that Roku uses. Punch in a code and you get more movie channels with free movies or old classic movies and stuff like that. I also have a roku box, but it would be nice if the PS4 had those features because it would run a lot smoother on the PS4.
