Sony considering Gold, Silver & Platinum memberships for PS4's online services

I wonder if this will mean different subscription content for different regions, being that we get fucked up the arse in NZ with content and lack of it aside from a few avatars and themes and the occasional demo they better up their content availability with the increased cost of the platinum subscriptions.

Platinum = PS+ ($40 a year)

While we can't say this wasn't coming (they do have to maintain the infrastructure for all these new features) I just hope they go about it the right way.

As long as online play is free, they can charge for the various optional features.

PSN+ is the best online subscription I've ever had, so will trust Sony to make the right choices.

I like what you have there, but you only need 3, unlike xBox free stuff isn't glorified, its simply an account with online play.

Why do you all want to pay for stuff that should be free?! If Sony wants to advertise features to sell consoles, then they need to be free. For those that are saying that the recording / spectating should be included in a silver package; There is a share button on the controller... we shouldn't have to pay to use a button.

As I think it should be:

No subscription (free). Well not really, you pay for the console and its features.
-Online Gaming
-Cross-game chat
-All features of the OS including community centre and sharing/ spectating etc*
*This doesn't need to include features that are not neccessary (automatic updates etc)

Silver subsription
Basic level content or low use for services such as gaikai and movies

Gold subscription
Medium level content or medium use for services such as gaikai and movies

Platinum subscription
High Level content or high use for services such as gaikai and movies

In other words, you pay for content... Which is completely reasonable.

To give people choice-
Got Kids? Can only play 10 hours a month? Go for silver.
A recluse? play for 200 hours a month? Go for platinum.

I've never paid for PS+ but I can only compare it to my LOVEfilm subscription where you pay for what suits you. I pay £8 a month to watch as many blu-rays as i can. Some people want to pay £3 a month to watch two a month.

I would easily pay that for all those features at the prices you stated but I think they will be higher though. But i hope its along those lines. Would be awesome if so. I think a lot of the price factor relies on how streaming is setup. If it's unlimited I think it will be around 80 or so for platinum. But it's all reliant on how Sony sees a competitive pricing structure for those services.

Cross game chat is confirmed to be free and I would've been a little pissed off if they didn't keep it free...even though I might never use it...it's always nice to have it there. Along with other features that i would like for free, such as party/clan support. May be expecting too much but a program like roger wilco/teamspeak would do wonders.

I guess party chat would be the same thing...just that they'd have to set it up where people should be able to join in as they please.

I was just mentioning those two as examples. But, I wouldn't miss those features if they weren't part of the free package. Although, being able to upload/share video is an awesome feature which would get me to subscribe (I am assuming that would be a subscriber feature.)

Though I can understand why they want that there...it's just simpler that way and there's a lot of newbs out there.

I just hope they let us reprogram that, otherwise it would irritate me because I'm a perfectionist...and it would've been nice if they didn't write "share" on it but then again, remember, the newbs.

And with the rest of that, even though I don't like no recharging cable (not too big of a deal, but PS3 style of charge is nice) and all the others - the main thing for MS is that people are continuing to pay.
