How old is your ps3? Surely you can call sony if you got a yellow light of death and you're out of warranty I heard you can get it fixed for 120 or something, not sure though.
    I'd say at least try

Still have it, play it, and buy games for it.

Mainly play it for my old library which I can't play on PC or are exclusives.

    #IndieStation4 and proud of it.

I've barely touched my ps3 since I got the ps4 at launch but I'm keeping the two that I have. In fact, I just bought this one a new outfit.

I just received an old 60GB and I plan on keeping my PS3 until it dies, even though I only own two games at the moment. I just hope Sony will maintain PSN connections for the PS3 for many more years, and most importantly with free online.

I would be careful when buying the older fat models. Make sure the one you want has a good history or has been re-balled with lead solder. Also, I must caution, some fats can get quite loud.

if you can skip it, skip it. if it's cheap then it may be worth the risk.

Agreed. Unless you have a collection of PS2 games or Super Audio Cd's, then stick with another model unless this one is "worth" it to you.

I've just put on my PS3 (Well for gaming anyway) since christmas, I feel bad for ignoring it. I'll be keeping it to play through my backlog of games and PS+.

All I am playing right now is my PS3, with the current freebies (for PS Plus peeps), and amazing deals the PS3 is the place to be right now. My PS4 might remain untouched until inFamous comes out that is, then my PS4 will be near melting point from continual use.

    8 years and counting!

I haven't moved on to the next gen yet but whether I keep my old phat PS3 or not depends on a few things. First, if I go XB1 route, I will almost definitely keep it. If I go the PS4 route (more likely) it will depend on what we get out of PS Now and support for DLNA.

PS Now: If the quality is good, games I like are available, and the pricing for PS Now is a good value, the only thing making me keep my PS3 is DLNA support.
DLNA: I have a home server with all of my photos, personal videos and music that I use so a device with DLNA in my living room is a must.

Ideally, the PS4 gets a FW update to support DLNA and PS Now is good all around. I will have a new PS4 and my PS3 with library of games hits craigslist.

I'll probably hold onto mine. We use it sometimes for watching movies over Amazon or Netflix, so at the very least we will keep it and just put it in the guest room where the other TV is.
I recently picked up a used PS2 so that I can play Tourist Trophy, so I really dont see why I would just sell my PS3. Its not like Im going to get much for it anyways.

With the requirement for PS+ to play online on the PS4 and all the great PS3 games given away free every month through PS+ I see zero reason not to hold onto my PS3. If anything, I need to upgrade my HDD again.

PCs are very much like Air Conditioners.
They both become utterly useless once you start to open up Windows....

Yeah, PS+ is a huge reason I wanna keep my PS3. If I ever gotta Vita (for cheap), i'll have plenty of games ready to play.

Vita is sweet. Tomb raider is awesome for remote play, tear away is one of the more innovative games I've ever played (can't speak highly enough of this game). They also have a few kid items to play, for 2.99.

But back to topic, yes I'm keeping my ps3. I had to buy a new one 6 months ago so it's new. My daughter loves LBP and others and ps plus can't be beat.

I'm playing DMC now on it.
