Well, if you need to its good choice for you and if you are not a collecter I would say its ok. For me, the main problem is that I do lots of PS1 and PS2 games. PS4 won't be able to play those so no choice has left for me only to keep the PS3 the phat one 60GB model. Because I love some of the PS1 or PS2 until now.
If the PS4 it would play all those PS1, PS2, and PS3 games aside from the PS4. I would sell or trade both of my systems but dam Sony.

I'll most likely sell my PS3 before the PS4 comes out. I don't like cluttering the house up with stuff I may never use again.

I have a slim ps3 320 gb, won't be selling it, will probably relegate it to an HTPC role (it's hacked, so there's a lot better codec support like mkv, flv etc.), and maybe (just maybe) dualboot linux on the thing, definitely not gonna sell it anytime soon (even after getting a ps4).

I'm going to keep mine for a while yet and reason is because I feel developers are really just starting to tap into the Cell and get the most from it. I can't help but feel that we're still going to see some amazing achievements on the PS3 for at least a year to 18 months post the release of the PS4
Also, it's the day one model with 60GB HDD and it's still going amazingly well (I do polish it each week!)

I'm still going to hold on to my PS3.

Of course. It's sexy, and it's silver and it's given me hours upon hours of entertainment.
But mostly because PS4 is not natively backwards compatible with it and from the carefully chosen words of David Perry at the Meeting I don't believe Sony will have the Gaikai b/c streaming available for launch

No matter what race you are or what you look like or your sexuality or where you come from, We are all the same people and we are all bothers & sisters so love each other & don't let anyone tell you any different.
Remember you can't choose what you are from birth but you can choose what you want to become.
Just because you haven't seen them doesn't mean they are not there we all got to have something to believe in.
