I been wondering this very big theory likely wide off the mark from only based what we know on what the specs revealed.

Wonder if the reason on secretive is the device actually its major step up it will be portable device.

Look at super slim could the new device be smaller?.

Could it be even designed more into laptop style device. We been slowly moved last gen ps3 to almost pc style with the functionalty. Next gen got hardware architecture of pc.

I think natural progression to move is to have laptop style PS3 with keyboard which can connect to big screens.

I think the wait and see approach is going to be the best option! Enough with all the doom and gloom!

Blessed is he who expects nothing, for he shall not be disappointed.

It defies the laws of physics. It defies the basic laws of economics. It defies common sense. But if you want to believe it, go right ahead. I guess it's easier to say "Wait and see" than it is to come up with a legitimate reason to believe it's real, isn't it?

You sure drew a lot from something I didn't say. I'm neither excited nor disappointed at the possible clock speed of the CPU. I'm not believing in anything. I'm just waiting to see the official specs.

Maybe undo the knot in your panties.

the preaching going on in here...over some damn console specs lmao

I'm fine with the specs. if they turn out even stronger then thats great.

Prepare for meltdowns if these next gen console rumors are true. Phase 1: Denial. Phase 2: Mask a lie under "opinion" vs a fact. Phase 3: Bring up the PS3/360 era when it has nothing to do with the subject. Phase 4: Say that the power gap doesn't matter but constantly defend the weaker specs.

Seems like the big leaks are going to come from GDC Mar. 25, since the devs are going to be able to talk all about next gen hardware. So, we know now that alpha kit has been out for awhile, no doubt beta kits will be in some hands by then.

As long as the games look like what I saw at the PS4 unveiling, the processor could be from the fourth dimension and instill discipline in me. Just don't cost $600.. I don't want to hear the flood of internet bitching.

Haven't companies shown products when they are not finalized with the fine print saying: "...design is subject to change..."

It very well could be that they didn't show it because it wasn't finalized but you can't rule out other reasons. They could have shown a design and just made it clear to everyone that it may change.

Here is an article from IGN that does a very good job of trying to explain why the hardware design wasn't shown.

Yep. All hype would be undone by this. I would still buy it honestly because I did at launch for a PS3 but I don't see many being susceptible to the 600 tag again.

The price was that high for several reasons... none of which are an issue with PS4. If it's more than 500 I will be very surprised.

cheers for those very interesting. So possible more gradual move to laptop base could be not off the scale of possibilities for ps4.

xbox 360 runs faster than ps4.

The xbox 360 runs faster than that because it runs at 3.2 ghz.

it would just mean that instead of .002% chance of a chip having a defect, you would have .004% chance. I don't see why we should care.

While true, bear in mind that normal Jaguar configuration is 4 Jaguar cores @ 1.6Ghz, not 8 Jaguar cores @ 2.00Ghz.

Still, I don't think it will present a thermal problem.

Also, I'm already dubious of the source's veracity, although a gentleman by the name of "Mike R" at B3D and Neogaf stated that the final clock could be 2.00Ghz or 1.8 Ghz otherwise, given that they're reporting that the RSX's peak performance figure as 400gflops.

As I recall, it was nowhere near that.

If Sony's engineers could get Cell into a box with it's excessive heat issues and have little to no problems, I'm sure they will get Jaguar into Ps4 without issues even at 2Ghz.
