EDIT - Update February 28th 2013
Ubisoft has confirmed that the next entry in the Assassin’s Creed series will be called Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. The news comes in the form of the game’s first official art, which you can check out below:
Official Confirmation - Today’s announcement confirms the title initially revealed by leaked marketing material this week and also expands upon Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot’s comments earlier this month that the newest Assassin’s Creed game features a new hero and time period.
While no concrete details are given in the art, it’s immediately clear that the game will involve pirates, just as rumors suggested a few weeks ago.
Want to know more about Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag? IGN will be live streaming the game's official announcement -- including the first details -- on Monday, March 4th at 9:00 a.m. Pacific. Our pre-show starts at 8:30, so tune in early and find out all the news as it's revealed.

Sony Confirmation - http://www.examiner.com/article/assa...ny-ps4-as-well![]()
The next Assassin's Creed game will be called 'Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag', if supposedly leaked promotional materials turn out to be genuine.
he poster pictured right, passed to Kotaku by 'a tipster', clearly shows the aforementioned title, along with a hooded figure who would appear to be the new main protagonist, surrounded by pirates on a pirate ship.
A screenshot has also emerged via Examiner from an undisclosed source, which doesn't reveal a great deal execpt another look at a character in different clothing.
According to Examiner, the main character is Edward Kenway, father of Haytham Kenway from Assassin's Creed 3, and an Assassin and known Privateer. The game is claimed to be set in the caribbean, with Jamaica, Cuba and the Bahamas among the islands that will be visited.
The site claims the game is up and running on Xbox 360, but next-generation versions are also planned.
Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot confirmed earlier this month that Ubisoft plans to publish a new Assassin's Creed game during the 2014 financial year.
It was confirmed the game will take place in a new time period and star a new character, but little else was revealed.
As Kotaku notes, this isn't the first time the title 'Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag' has been rumoured - weeks ago a Reddit poster claimed to have spotted promotional materials for the game on the laptop screen of a woman sitting in the seat infront of them on a plane.
A separate Reddit poster also claimed to have eavesdropped on two seeming marketing staff discussing an Assassin's Creed project titled 'Black Flag' in a San Francisco cafe - although they - possibly presumptuously - described what they heard as AC3 DLC. According to the poster, the game being discussed featured a focus on naval combat, and a commercial being pitched featured the tagline "Survival is the Only Thing Worth Dying For," accompanying footage of "an Admiral of the British Royal Navy" attempting to arrest the main protagonist while out at sea.
EDIT - UPDATE"Assassin's Creed 4" had been confirmed by Ubisoft weeks ago, but now some new information that has come out of the Sony camp has pointed to the next installment in the "Assassin's Creed" franchise coming to the PS3.
According to a report from GameChup yesterday, Michael Denny, senior vice-president of Sony WWS, talked about some of the upcoming games that will be coming to the PlayStation 3.
"Look at the games coming out on the PlayStation 3 like 'The Last of Us,' 'Beyond: Two Souls,' GT6, and then on the third-party side of things another fantastic 'Assassin’s Creed,' 'GTA.'
"It’s important for our content to have that kind of longevity because, as I was saying [about the PS Vita], the games that come through are going to get better and better over time," Denny said.
Just about all of the titles that Denny discussed are expected and have been revealed up to this point, including the next installment of "Assassin's Creed." Gamers who were wondering whether or not "Assassin's Creed 4" would be coming to the PlayStation 3, can now breath freely as it will hit the older Sony console.
Most suspect the majority of games that are released on the PS4 and Xbox 720 will also be ported to their predecessors because Sony and Microsoft do not want to cut off that stream of revenue right away.
"Assassin's Creed 4" has been confirmed for released on the PlayStation 3, and many can expect the title to hit the PS4 as well.
Found a new leak via Neogaf , a poster of the supposedly game's map.

Could be interesting. I wrote a paper about the Caribbean last semester and it could be an interesting setting?

I haven't even finished Brotherhood. Got to start on revelations and and then on to number 3. They release them too frequently.

My favorite Assassins Creed games in order
Assassins Creed 2: Brotherhood > Assassins Creed 2 > Assassins Creed 2: Revelations > Assassins Creed III > Assassins Creed.

They really do release these games way to frequent im still at DNA 3 or 4 in revelations, which i havent picked up for 8 months or so now.
I think storywise 2 was the best one and the amount of freedom it gave you to tackle the missions was great, albeit the game was rather easy compared to the newer ones.
Brotherhood had a entertaining story but alot of the missions forced the player to tackle the mission the way the game wanted it (ie.colloseum missions) and some missions forced you to run specific ways if you wanted to stand a chance to catch fleeing enemies. Thats the main reason i didnt like Brotherhood as much as 2 aswell as the Assassionation Guild thing that was just a extremely weak add on to the gameplay and didnt do anything rather than overpower you in the main game by sending them out to get "3 powerbars" in battle. Also the Conspiritor list in AC2 was one of the coolest things in any game, unlocking that thing and seeing how it branches out was one of the things that made it so good.
Revelations feels sorta messy the first 3-4 chapters ive played it, it seems rather linear so far in both mission build and in discovering the city, im not too convinved about the bomb combinations so far either about adding to the gameplay

This sounds good, but the guy that leaked this. Is known to be a liar and he said the same words about this, like he did about Zelda and a few other games

Thanks to Spyrde/Sylar

Should be called "Assassin's Creed IV: Milking It"
AC2 was the best in the series. Brotherhood and Revelation were meh. AC3 had too many boring segments that I just did not care for.
