The UI. From what I see, I don't like it. I'm not gonna say I hate it since I haven't tried it but from the pictures I've seen, I'm not excited about it one bit.

I've thought about this idea. as much as I would like it, I realize it's not for everyone. It's so niche, in fact, that asking for it is unrealistic.
The biggest thing for me is better advertising/promotion.
Not only in the media, but in the system itself as well. I'm not saying take up the whole main screen xbox style, but maybe an expansion of the "what's new" section on the ps3. How about displaying this when you boot up your ps4 (with the option to disable it)? So many great games and features go unnoticed. The recommended purchases feature announced at the unveiling is a great step towards rectifying this.
I read that Sony signed a deal with a new ad agency. I hope they will do better to promote the ps4 and its games. The other day I saw a pre-video ad on youtube for the ps4. Very wise decision and I hope that trend continues. Better ads= more customers= higher quantity/quality games and more money for sony and developers=better for everyone.
Other than that, I would like to see more home integration (more spaces, more developers implementing home into their games, psvita support, the trophy room that was shown a few years ago), more games supporting keyboard and mouse, saving of network settings (mentioned above), auto detect AV settings (I can't tell you how many friends of mine have their ps3 set to standard definition on an hdtv) and a deeper psn profile
And they should definitely keep the ability to change themes. Maybe even make it more customizable (going along with the "personal" aspect of ps4). Also the boot screens for games. How about your theme changing depending on which game you have inserted?

Steam isnt new, its coming uo for its 10 birthday this September and let me tell you Steam was just the same as Sony with its pricing, they were often more expensive than retail games plus add in the $$$ to ££££ conversions ( it took at least 4 years to get prices in my own currency) made for a very expensive game also in the begining sales were few and far between.

Interesting. Xbox Live has been out since about 2001. I am not sure when it started offering DD of disc based games, but it could have been around the time 360 launched, so that's 2005. Or it could have been slightly later.
So, going by that logic, they might change their pricing strategies at around 2015, with Sony following in 2016.
I hope you're right. Though I really would not want to wait 3 mores years before DD of disc based games are at a considerably reasonable price compared to the physical media.Almost everyone will say: buy console that has games that you want, and those who say otherwise are ignorant.

Playstation Move for the win!

but seriously aside from price i feel the biggest issue that i hope is changed this generation is lack of advertising. Sony marketed the heck out of ps2 as did MS for Xbox360. Sony needs to make sure the general public understands the ps4 is the "Cool" system. no more creepy baby dolls plz

I agree. I have to change it between 3 connections quite often and when two of them are 24 characters with uppercase, lowercase and numbers I get quite fed up of it.
That would be brilliant if it can be done. I would probably end up using it an awful lot.
The ability to create a custom avatar would be nice too.

I want them to go back to putting the system updates on game discs. It helps out people with no internet or people with slow internet.

That wouldn't be feasible. They'd need to charge for it then and people don't want that.
If you have a slow connection or no internet, you really shouldn't need these consoles...you're wasting half of your money. A person should just stick with PC for that matter...which is actually more expensive so never mind, yea just don't buy them lol.
EDIT: Oh you mean, game discs...yea they already do that but only when they come out with new editions.
