It just came up on my mind. As we saw in the Sonys event those playable demos of Driveclub, Killzone: Shadowfall, and Knack. The person who was holding the controller was aiming down. Does that mean the PS4 was hidden there? Because those demos werent recorded or were trailers. So, what do you guys thing? Was the PS4 there? Were they installed on HDD or something make them playable without the console![]()

No, it's not a temporary system...it's literally a PC that has similar specs as the PS4 would have. I'm thinking when you say temporary system...that it is an unfinished PS4.
If not, disregard this post.Praise the lord! Next stop: Ni No Kuni.

That's not a very good way to describe it. As was mentioned it is a Development platform, it's a Alpha/Beta version of the PS4. It is made to as close to the specifications as they can to what they intend to be the production. It is not built on a PC chassis, but would have the same architecture as the final PS4. They probably don't have an early APU, but they would integrate the GDDR5, GPU and CPU all on a board with early sample HW (later the GPU and CPU would be integrated inside one chip - two die's one chip in what's known as a Multi-Chip Module MCM.)
It has two benefits.
#1) It gives the developers something to test their code on as they develop their games, there will be new dev kits that come out when they finalize there design as well. The biggest differences from the retail game console would be more things like Debugging Emulation support.
#2) It gives the developers time to provide good feedback as to what is working well for them and what's not. This feedback is most likely what led Sony to up the GDDR5 to 8GB
It's much more than 'Just can play those games to show to the people'.

What happened to the possibility that it's just a real PS4 that is simply hidden from view?
After all, it's gotta be done or near-completed with E3 coming up.

It is basically running on a PS4 devkit or a PC equivalent of a PS4.
Either-way, expect the console to be a bit more powerful ( especially with the 8 gb ram increase and the possible CPU/GPU rumoured changes) and with the finale spec PS4 they will be able to optimise games a lot easier without worrying about changes/ early tech, expect even better graphics within a year or even on release!!
