Sony teases "highly significant" unannounced PS3 games

PlayStation 4 is just over the horizon with a holiday release date, but that doesn’t mean it’s the end for PlayStation 3 (as many of you may recall with the PS2 to PlayStation 3 transition). Sony has said there are “highly significant” unannounced PlayStation 3 games still in the pipeline.

“I’d point to the software line-up on PS3 that we have coming up – God of War: Ascension next month, The Last of Us, which is looking great, and Beyond later in the year,” Sony Computer Entertainment Europe President and CEO Jim Ryan told PlayStation Blog.

“And there’s other stuff yet to be announced, which is highly significant too. There’s a lot coming on PS3 and it’s going to be very important to us for some time yet.”

Could he be referring to LittleBigPlanet 3? Or Gran Turismo 6, perhaps?

GT6 most likely. Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes, still without a release window I think, might release late this year or early next year, too. The Last Guardian, for sure. I wonder if Square Enix will release Versus XIII on PS3, as well. Hmm..

I suspect some of these will be ported to PS4, too. For instance, GT6, included with all of its DLC glory, will probably port over to PS4 at some point to tide themselves over for GT7 development.

I wouldn't bet on Uncharted going to PS3 again. A whole trilogy was managed in this generation, so it seems like a good point to shift efforts over to PS4 for the next 3 games. Half the team has been working on TLoU, too, if I recall, and the other half of Naughty Dog has been working on PS4.

Could be a number of games. GT6 seems like it's gonna be a PS3 game, and aren't GG working on a new IP as well as next Killzone for PS4? Also SSM are working on a new IP which wasn't at the PS4 conf. And no doubt 3rd party will be developing for PS3 long into next gen.

I think it's going to be Gran Turismo 6. My reason for saying this is because there has been at least 2 Gran Turismo titles on each playstation console.
