Seriously guys....when has Sony ever had a true mascot? They've had a bunch of characters linked to their systems but they've never pushed for a mascot, what makes you guys think that's gonna change?

It's all about the PS brand. All these characters collective make the mascot. Nintendo sort of has this somewhat. Mario is their frontrunner but characters like Link, Donkey Kong, and Luigi are also mascots themselves. Sony just never had a clear cut mascot. They focus more on creating a strong brand than one string character.

It certainly does a good job of showing off the power of PS4, all the little bits and pieces all on screen at once is awesome.
I wouldn't say Knack is mascot material though, you need something SPECIAL for that, i'd say Sackboy and Nathan Drake is as close to a mascot as Sony has right now.

Just reminded of this but Sony's mascot has always been Toro (Sony Cat). I think the problem is that, unlike Nintendo with Mario, Sony would have to come up with a different mascot for the west. So they end up with two different mascots which only further complicates the "face" of the company.

Knack, Second Son, and (maybe) Driveclub and Killzone are all exciting prospects for the PS4. I can't believe that dude has such a pedigree, though. That's an amazing list of games to have on your resume. God damn.

It really was. I guess Sony didn't want Mark to take focus away from the reveal since he was the lead architect. It was a bit there you see it now you don't though.

I agree with him, though. I like the look of the game, but Knack hardly seems "mascot" worthy. They tried to turn Sackboy into a mascot, too, and he wasn't that successful. That series has kind of endured a slow death after the first game, imo.

Sony's always been made up of a variety of faces, though; I prefer a wall of Jak, Ratchet, and Sly -- or Nate, Cole, and a Helghast as opposed to Mario or Master Chief. When it comes to Sony, I'm a firm believer that more is better.

I think it's best they don't try to create a mascot. Sackboy is mascot worthy but I really have to say that Mario is the best mascot and Nintendo has him. It's a bit late for a mascot in my opinion. It could have worked with the PS1 but even Someone inside Sony stated back when PS1 was out, they said they dont' want a mascot. I think I read it in some old issue of Game Informer back in those days.
