It concerns me more that gaming has had to go retro to get anywhere.

And this, Cliffy boy, is why EA get the infinite amount of hate! How dare do such a thing!!!!

The sad part is there's enough ignorant people in the world who'll overlook this and that dam EA will still get their moneys and continue this garbage. This has shaken me and I WANTED THIS SO BAD!

Think people were having the same issue with Battlefield. I remember a story of someone buying in Origin, getting charged twice, having proof of multiple charges for one product, then getting banned for complaining about it.

Wonder if it's just an isolated incident or miscommunication or this is just EA practice being brought to light?

    Anyway, welcome to next gen

This is correct. Forcing a refund through your bank/cardholder is usually against the TOS people sign before buying from digital distributors, and that's in place for a good reason. Though in this case it's happening so much with EA and SimCity because - despite EA actually stating they're offering refunds - they deny customers who ask for it. EA is forbidding legitimate refunds, which is forcing people to seek alternative routes.

So, in the end, EA is still a bunch of assholes.

As a result of EA's servers being incapable of handling the load from the people playing, they patched the game to remove 'Cheetah Mode', which makes the game play at its fastest speed. This, essentially, makes the game a lot more boring and removes control from the player's hands. So not only are some people outright incapable of playing the game when they want (or they're experiencing disconnects and false save when leaving), but now everyone has a removed (and once useful) feature.

I wonder how many more times EA will abuse the game and its legitimate customers in the name of 'combating piracy'. Such shining knights of the industry they are!

Everyone knows EA is the main killer of gaming, yet there are still millions of people who bought Sim City 4. They gave them millions of dollars even they did nothing good till now, so they have no right to grumble...

Buying an EA game is just like smoking...

That's not even the issue....the game shouldn't require an online connection to begin with. It's a single-player game.

If you do so, please share if it works without being connected to a server. That is one of the things they were trying to say that the game needs one for you to play.

I know that if it wasnt in place then the rproblems wouldnt exist but they implemented it and then didnt provide enough bandwidth so their customers are int he situation we see now.

However If EA had provided enough bandwidth and servers so gamers could play as and when they wanted there wouldn't be half as much hooharr.

Ubisoft were a big proponent of always on DRM but they scrapped fairly recently becaue of issues like this.

It's a shame as I was really interested in this game. I wanted it, maybe even prepared to pay for it on release. But I don't appreciate DRM, much less a system this painfully intrusive. I want to be treated as a customer, not a potential pirate. EA can go fuck themselves.
    The solution is simple.

Although I do enjoy Battlefield and SC2... But not the BS surrounding either of those titles.

Why does EA always have to smear their ass residue all over each game.... it's gross.
