The point is they lied to everyone about the online functionality. They said it was absolutely required for the game to work... and these hackers/programmers have proven otherwise.

The always on requirement is most likely also influenced by EA wanting to shove micro-transactions into every game and down our throats. They want you connected to their shop at all times to get that 'in the moment' 'charging not gouging' sale.

The always online portion is 100% EA. They did the same thing with Battlefield 3, remember? they made it so you had to be online to play the single player part of the game. It's all EA, they are the fuckers.
