Hey,
I think it's the time for PS4 to be fully-compatible with PS2 games. I own PS2 original games, and I have a PS3, so it's not wise or logical that I buy a PS2 console (Since my old one broke down.) All I want is a system that is compatible at least with PS2, not more.

I don't really care aobut not having BC since I'm not going to be playing any PS2 games anyway. The only games I seem to go back to are NES and SNES, I don't even go back to PS1 games. Non of this bothers me and if you want to play PS2 games that much either get a PS2 or somethin.

Selling decent hd collections is still an option for ps4, so no, don't think they will let that cash go away..
And It is not like the old days, games have much content and taking more time to consume. They are actually getting bigger and bigger. So I don't think users will have time for old games.

The PS2 is a gem and should be allowed to die gracefully...Sony should be more focused on the future, not the past

I have to agree. There is a point when you have to just move on. I understand many people still have tons of PS2 games. I'm one of those people but I've accepted the fact the the PS2 is gone. It would be cool if sony made a console just for BC though. With all the ports on it needed to play PS1-PS3. Rightfully a 60gb model PS3 with memory card slots.

I would play anything older that this gen on a Non-HD TV anyway so it doesn't bother me.

I'd have liked the Vita to have a PS2 classics section like it has for PSOne Classics. SSXTricky on the go would be ace along with San Andreas etc.
For PS4, I probably wouldn't really play them that often as hopefully it will have a decent catalogue of games where I don't have to go back and I think the Vita screen would be better suited as games may look rather dated on a large TV.

So someone wants a next gen console to play games 2 gens old when even the current gen console doesn't support it? I think people are getting pretty ridiculous.

I say let Gaikai do all the CPU emulation and stream the old games. I think it would be best as a monthly subscription like PlayStation plus or an added tier of it. Makes the most sense to me.

The issue now days is merely the cost of developing the software, nothing to do with the hardware for the most part. It's not an easy problem to solve but it's not impossible any more.
That said Sony would have little interest in doing this, they want to sell new software where they will make money rather than support a dinosaur.
