Good current-gen games that changed the way you played?

I thought this would make for an interesting discussion. What kind of games, considered innovative in the way they played, did you really enjoy playing for the PS3 (or Xbox 360, I won't judge LOL).

I'll get the ball rolling by first mentioning Skate. I never played the sequels but I thought the original was a pretty cool game at the time. The controls were far more precise than Tony Hawk Pro Skater and the visuals clean.

I never actually completed the story but I got to a certain point where I could fall off really high and chuckle at the ragdoll physics, rewinding and crashing again at a different speed, angle etc.

    What about you guys?

Dark Souls/Demons Soul both these games pushed me to be a better gamer. I was relaxed, calm, and focused on the enemy moves. I know 9/10 deaths were my fault. These games made me better gamer.

I'll be lazy and just list some: Journey, Mirror's Edge, Portal, Final Fantasy XIII, Braid, Demon's Souls, Skyward Sword, Tomb Raider.

Catherine and Heavy Rain reminded me to innovate and also that there are more than running and gunning minds out there.

Rainbow Six Vegas 1/2 really helped me step up my skills in shooters and co-op/competitive gameplay.

Demon's Souls taught me old-school Nintendo-style how to play thoughtfully & carefully. Playing Mirror's Edge without using the gun had me thinking outside the box on a regular basis. Metal Gear Solid 4 did a similar thing by allowing me to finish the game without ever killing anyone (though MGS3 did that, too). I loved Heavy Rain's new approach which turned using the controller into a completely natural instinct, whether to fight an enemy or to start a car.

    Shut up and play games

Deus ex and skyrim for me, with skyrim it made me want to explore every inch of worlds just Incase I found that little extra thing that made a difference.

Deus ex made me want to try and find different ways of exploring the game instead of just running through and gunning everything down.

Just recently one changed my line of decision making in games. Walking Dead really makes you think about how your actions and decisions can really change a game. Unfortunately not many try to infuse decisions as deep rooted as that game does. Outside of maybe Heavy Rain.

Demon's Souls was the one game that made me really appreciate a tough yet rewarding game. That game was awesome for so many reasons but i think the biggest reason was because it kicked your ass but made you want to keep coming back for more.
