Neither the PS4 nor the Xbox 720 are gonna spy on you. They will only be on for the purposes of menu/gameplay control, scanning in your face for a game character or a video chat in a game or the XMB/dashboard.

I doubt this very much, it will have a on and off automatic set up, it will come on when share is enabled and off when not

Also it will be stupid and damage the console

I doubt it. I don't believe any of the rumors that we'll have to have cameras connected to play our consoles. I think Sony and Microsoft are going to do what's best for them and at the end of the day that's allowing themselves to make as much money as possible.

Make cameras and other peripherals mandatory and it's going to come back to bite you in the ass.

First sentence in the article i linked twice in this thread.

PS4 will be bundled with a dual camera bar that tracks Sony’s new DualShock 4 controller
    That sounds mandatory to me.

All the demos were played without the PS4 in site so why would it mandatory?

The camera could have been hidden somewhere. I will be waiting for further confirmation that this is not needed before i decide to get a PS4 now.

That must be one hell of a camera then this sounds so retarded why in the world would they design a console where the only way to play it is to have a camera looking at the controller. Did they suddenly fire all of the intelligent employees? For anyone thinking this is true I feel very sad for you.

In an interview a Microsoft executive stated the new kinectis able to track Facial features and body language which could then be in turn used to Better know what content you like or dislike. It can also track up to 6 people in a room and a new patent filed about half a year ago by Microsoft shows the use of the kinect or other Microsoft cameras to count the amount of people in a room viewing content and stop said viewing if there are to many people watching or someone is watching who doesn't have a license to view the content. They have said a lot of shady $#@! about the new kinect and I by no means want anything to be able to recognize my face and it turn on or sign me on and welcome me every time I walk into the room. That goes for Sony too.

If one is afraid to show their nutsack to a camera, it's quite easy to construct an apparatus which occludes a visible spectrum of light.

Now thats some future $#@! MS would certainly be brazen enough to try using, though for now it sounds half baked thankfully!
