Hey everyone,
I don't profess to know much about PC hardware, I spent two years in HS doing repair and building, but that's about it. I'm looking to build my own rig, with a budget of $800.
I'm looking for opinions, and this is the list I have so far.

We can exclude the HDD from that, as I'll just format that one in my existing PC.
Should any components be changed?![]()

For the price, that looks like a solid list to me. I love that you chose G.Skill RAM. I only use G.Skill with my computers.

You gonna use Crossfire in the near future? If not why buy a board that has 3 PCI x16 express slots.

Are you overclocking? if not stock i5 cooler is just fine.
SSD. Yes it matters and you'll notice the speed.
Modular PSU would be nice. Antec BP 550
I love G.Skill too but you could save on memory and put it towards other hardware.
no front panel usb 3.0, not a big deal but im sure you could find a case that better suits your board features.

Yeah... an SSD will make your entire computer dramatically faster. I usually put the OS onto an SSD with a secondary HDD for storage.

This... is my BOOMSTICK!

I finally got my parents to switch to an SSD. They have no friggin' idea about technology or anything... I just showed them benchmark numbers from my SSD and ran the benchmark on their computer. They were like "wow... that number on yours is so much higher!" I was like... you can do all your stuff that much faster!
And now they enjoy their computer so much more.

This... is my BOOMSTICK!

lol...I feel ya there buddy. I got a credit line at newegg for thousands of dollars, it's all I can do to resist just going through picking out the most expensive pieces and saying "eh, it's only $100/month"

Thankfully I'm a cheap bastard... never go over owing a couple hundred at any time.
