I was going to post these pictures up yesterday found a link on reddit, but eventually realized its wasn't BF4, their raw images of the cinematic. But it wouldn't hurt if next gen graphics are like that.

I doubt making it hard to see anything is a good design choice.
Well, I wasn't talking about texture quality. You were arguing the lighting in Arma 3 was outdated and that it doesn't compete in post-processing. I have to disagree about the former.Arma just doesn't seem on par let alone better to me. The textures are so pixelated in that game (especially the ground ones). Serious need of better AF.
As well as the opening shot in a more recent trailer:

I'm curious to see how much of an improvement BF4 will be visually. I'm actually kind of skeptical about how impressive it will look so I hope they're cookin up something delicious.

Arma 3 is a friggin awesome game and those that are saying it's ugly obviously don't know what they are talking about. BF3, while I play the game I personally think the frostbite engine's colors are awful. Everything is overly bright, the colors are basically 1 dimensional so even at 4 ft away people will blend in perfectly with the environment. The lag on the frostbite engine is the worst I've seen for a long time, the popins are horrible, then add in EA's everything online policy which is crap.
I can already tell there are going to be shooters better than the battlefield series when the PS4 hits. Pushing graphics is one thing but when the main gameplay suffers from it, tends to turn me off a bit.
Also, the lighting in Arma still has yet to be surpassed by a FPS game which I haven't seen yet, the entire game looks awesome.

Wow I had not seen that dynamic night lighting. Looks good

the next BF is rumored to have 60 players no? (on consoles I mean) and that is supposedly 60fps

I think too many people are hung up on texture quality that they forget how important lighting and the overall scale of a game are. Clean visuals are realistic. It's why Arma 3 looks as impressive as it does and we're only seeing the alpha build.

It does look very impressive for the most part. What I'm worried about are the gun mechanics (including gun sounds) and the way explosions look...very bland and dull.
If they get the gameplay right, I wouldn't care about all that but I'm too used to the gun porn from BF3.Praise the lord! Next stop: Ni No Kuni.

I don't see why BF4 can't be close or even at this level of graphical fidelity. Battlefield 3 on the PC looks comparable in some ways already, minus the obvious CGI polish.
I expect visuals similar to the OP images in the coming years.-No Feeble Cheering-
