I just wanted to give it a funny name so Jaeger would create a thread where we can make up.
Wow shitty browser didn't post the rest of my message. Ah well, all in all, I was trying to say that the forums did get better for the most part and i like the filter taken down and the stupid 5-word rule.

I haven't had a problem with the current style of moderation. Of the forums I've been with, there's a lot you can "get away with" here that wouldn't fly elsewhere. I feel the mod team doesn't abuse their powers, something you would see of immature posters who get criticized by members of the forum. The only major things I might notice now that the new console wars are nearing is thread derailment and spam.

Look you either like the infraction of not, the end result you got it and you did not get banned
If you were banned for an uncalled reason and yes cry wolf, but if not then chill
Unless it was for a stupid thing and again cry wolf, i got mine for over posting and just down right spamming the forum and i did not need to do that and ignored the rules and paid for it... I accept my infraction and will never spam the forum again
Onto the strictness of the staff, yes in some case's they have went over the top and made it a pain to be on the forum, but they do it for a reason in some case's.. New members and to respect the right of the young one's that view the forum as guests
I would never neglect the fact i was a dick and i would never break the rules unless it is an direct attack on me as a human being... But the rules are what they are
If we have rules on the forum and they could be tweaked to suit us and give us some head way in the way we act and then i would like to see what and how far we can go with out the forum getting way out of control
And people signing up for the sake of being a down right fucking cunt... I would leave if the forum became weak and lost the rules that keep us happy and balanced.... I would not want a BAR type forum
Were racism, hatred etc... can be freely give out to members for having an opinion... I want a place were i can post and am free to accept a response i do not like and vice visera.
This is the place of smart members and honest members, were you can be open mined and not get a kick in the balls for doing soLast edited by claud3; 03-14-2013 at 18:16.

So you're saying we let Xbox fans troll and not PlayStation fans? Look at all the members that have been hit with an infraction since the PS4 was unveiled (which was when discussion became a but more 'passionate'). At least half of those members are Xbox-leaning.
Perhaps what you're saying was true in the past, but I wouldn't say it's true now.

If someone didn't get it, this was a pun about him mistakenly (or not) putting in his age to be 4.
I still don't think you were being a dick lol. Now if your infraction is temporary then ok, a permanent would be uncalled for. you didn't insult anyone, you weren't trolling, i personally didn't feel as if you were spamming...to me, spamming is when someone just comes in say something random so they can get more points or to get 25 posts so they can post a thread. Maybe you were accidentally trying to get your post count up (which I didn't feel) but you were definitely not deliberately trying to spam. IMO.
Your infraction should be temporary.

Actually, the 'other forum' I'm referring to is the FileFront Forums which, as many internet veterans know, used to be known as GamingForums, so it's very similar to PSU in terms of content and yet they still had a melee forum implemented and made it successful. So, yeah, I can see it working here - and we can still be mature about it. It would be no different to having a heated debate/argument in real-life.
My personal opinions are not endorsed by PSU. But they should be.

Poll should be restricted to only those who have been moderated in some way shape or form. Right now, I've never been moderated but that's nothing to do with the rules or how they're enforced. It's about how I've chosen to conduct my own behaviour when I'm here. I'm not a linguistic savage that the rules and moderation somehow shape into a polite, well mannered (mostly) coherent member.

Observed (third party) moderation doesn't really tell the whole story, either.

It's just right I'd say. No complaints this way.
I like the sound of a "melee forum" but I'm not sure of the maturity of the members. I'm not referencing anyone for I'm immature too but I can work any problems out with a member.

I thanks you good sire
On topic:
All of us off course have a full on different view of what should or shouldn't be done... But one thing for sure is that we all agree that we all want respect and a place we feel happy to come back to day after day and know
That the one's we interact with, are friends and we respect and enjoy every opinion put across and accept everyone is and should be different...
We can not change for the sake of rules, but we can sure as hell respect them, this way we all live a happy experience on the forum
And we share what we love best are minds

The change is not retroactive. I believe we made the change a couple months after that infraction was given.
It doesn't make a difference though, since we don't give bans based on points anymore. There is no 30-point limit like we had before.
It's entirely up to our discretion when to ban and for how long, so whether the infraction is expired or not, it doesn't matter.

It can be used for a number of things.
One example would be something they read about in the news or on here. They can create a thread in The Melee, away from the restrictions in place in other sub-forums, and vent to their hearts content -- avoiding any derogatory language, of course. It's a means for people to really get passionate about subjects close to them and a way for them to have a mature discussion with only one rule/guideline in place. Like I said, it worked before and it can work again.
Another thing The Melee can be used for, as mentioned previously, is threads for a more 'one-on-one' debate. If a member says something to you in another thread that riles you up, and has done so repeatedly for example, then you can create a thread and give it all you've got -- again with no derogatory language, of course - and await their response. It's a chance for members to really tackle issues with others with no rules or guidelines.
As I mentioned before, GamingForums (now known as GameFront) became a closer community once The Melee was implemented. People were made aware of issues with each other and, together, they ironed out these issues and learned how to not annoy each other. In that aspect, The Melee can be a VERY good thing to have implemented on PSU. I do mean, of course, that as long as people don't resort to 'lol u hav a dick growing out ur head m8' and crap like that and have actually proof to back up any arguments within The Melee, then I see no reason it cannot work.
My personal opinions are not endorsed by PSU. But they should be.

I'm just stepping back from now on. So far in this topic I have seen people saying it's to strict (to strict or sometimes to lenient)but then still vote "just right"? yea, sorry I don't believe this, something is kind of fishing or people are contradicting themselves.
Anyway, the question is, is how come so far the main people posting are people that made an account anywhere from 2006 to 2011? I am rarely seeing people from 2012 or even 2013 of this year. So far I seen a few but the infractions hit a few people. lmfao now they aren't posting anymore. meh oh well

I've received my fair share of infractions while I've been here, all of them justified.

The staff, for all intents and purposes, do a great job.
My personal opinions are not endorsed by PSU. But they should be.
