I don't see it as nVidia being salty as such, just greedy as usual. Think about it what is nVidia's biggest money spinner? Selling their top of the line video cards for an eye watering profit. Honestly anyone who buys top end cards is a mug IMO.
Console business is a high volume, low profit endeavour and nVidia act like that's beneath them nowadays. Maybe they're right, looking at the balance sheet.
Also there's the other side of this; consoles typically use mid-range parts, the PS4 is no different and AMD might not be able to rival the 680, 690 but it's the king of mid range. And both consoles are using APU's, something nVidia can't really compete with.
After the expensive mess that was the RSX, Sony probably don't trust em any more regardless.

Other than drivers AMD v Nvidia the cards are tradign blows in terms of raw power and both 1 up each other.
The thing is you got o ask yourself is the extra expense of the more reliable drivers worth it.
But the advantage Nvidia have over AMD is lost in consoles since AMD do not have to supply drivers for an API thing right?

Highly doubt it's one sided. Even though a lot of you guys won't admit it MS didn't just cut the life off the first xbox for shit and giggles; they did it because they were getting screwed by Nvidia. Basically they never would of made a profit no matter how long they continued the sales.
I'm sure Nvidia had a screw over Sony clause somewhere in their talks.

Then they should stop crying and go and try and Win a partnership with someone else and be the spokesman for that partner instead

It answers the question why AMD. Nvidia bid too high and they felt they would still be taking a risk to their other product lines if they got the contract, probably the same with IBM. They would also have been looking at two different companies, a CPU company and a GPU company to come together with some custom SoC. AMD already had the APU SoC architecture, just that it was a failure with the netbook and tablet market that they were shooting for. Beef it up for a stationary console and it finds its market. Going into the future, the numbers of stationary consoles sold isn't going to be as big of an industry factor in terms of percentage of volume, tablets and smart phones numbers quickly exceeding console numbers. In two years, smart phones are going to have enough power they can just be set down on the coffee table with a wireless controller and outputting to a smart HDTV or some small media interface box. So, Sony really had to look at the bottom line with the less risk this time around. It is a new Sony and they really seem to be on a roll.

Nvidia is truly butthurt over nobody wanting to pay outrageous prices for their tech. Hm, who'd of thought? Ps4 being compared to a low end PC again as well....when will people learn. The specs are still miles above what the PS3 offered and devs have a little thing call ed "optimization" that they love to do with consoles and fail to do with PC versions. I'll be fine playing my PS4 for 7 years without issue and not having to buy another $200 graphics card at some point down the line, or new power supply, or new Mobo etc. There's always something.

Apparently even the PC companies don't know what consoles are about.
Anyway, I know they're probably just trying to confuse the people who don't know any better.

03-16-2013 #46AMD:
- heavy presence in desktop and laptop markets
- 2 of 3 home gaming consoles using their CPU-GPU combos
- no presence at all in smartphones/tablets and mobile
Nvidia:
- heavy presence in desktop and laptop markets
- domination in server and supercomputer markets
- significant presence in smartphones/tablets and mobile
Nvidia doesn't have to care, really. The smartphone/tablet market is where the real game's at, and AMD... whither AMD? Meanwhile Big Green already had many crucial design wins with their Tegra chips.

So they're butthurt that Sony switched.
I mean, I prefer NVidia, but meh. This seems silly. Not unexpected, but silly.

what if they went of on one when the 720 comes out, what then and why crush a console for the sake off attention

More and more people I've noticed have been buying radeon GPU's over Nvidia, that same thing applies to the AMD CPU as well. the fps between intel cpu and amd cpu is not that big of a deal and for streaming games on the PC, the amd beats the intel. however, in terms of installing whatever game on your PC it's always been wishy washy. I never trust benchmark derp sites such as "Toms Hardware" because it's paid off bullshit and the benchmarks are not only over exaggerated but crappy tests anyway.
Looking at real user stress tests and benchmarks the AMD is not all that bad. The fact that Sony went with AMD is one of the smartest moves they could have done.

AMD and Nvidia GPU's are neck and neck so I can see that part.. but I don't get why you'd get an AMD CPU. Intel smacks them around in every category, except for price... And maybe power consumption.
