The last of us: Campaign length

There is no single, solitary PlayStation 3 exclusive coming out in 2013 that’s more anticipated than The Last of Us. Developed by Sony-owned studio Naughty Dog – the minds behind Crash Bandicoot, Jak & Daxter and Uncharted – The Last of Us was recently delayed, and is now due out on June 14th worldwide.


And in an interview with EvolveEnt, we now know specifically how long the campaign will be in The Last of Us.


“We’re definitely looking at more than 12 hours, maybe 12 to 16 right now is what we’re looking at,” explains Naughty Dog’s Arne Meyer in a video interview. “It really depends on how you play. You can play a little bit slower if you try to approach situations stealthy, if you really wanna explore the environment and scavenge, that’s going to add more time too.”

Sounds pretty good to me. That's a bit longer/equal to the uncharted games, so story length shouldn't be a problem. Looking forward to this game. Have to admit, I never realized it was delayed. In fact, I didn't think it was coming out until Holiday season, so this almost seems like it's scheduled release has been moved up (from my perspective).

Naughty Dog has said 12 hours at the least for the single player campaign. Probably 12-15 depending on how you play.

They said TLOU was the longest campaign they had created...Was Uncharted 2 not about 12 hours?

And have you lose interested half way?

5 hours like Crysis 3 is terrible, 20 hours is way too long but i think 12 to 15 is the sweet spot.

I think with the way the game is, were you can search around, different play-styles, loot etc it could be longer!

They also said if you take your time looking around, looting and playing stealthy it'll take longer then the 12-15 hours.

12-15? Sold. Probably changes heavily on your play style as well. I like to take things slow and weave myself into every area before moving on so it'll probably take me a while. Assuming it's not toooo linear.
