A few days ago i found out a friend of mine had gone missing in Cambodia after swimming in a river. He hadn't been seen for 24 hours so we had all started to get a bit worried but we didn't think of the worst scenario as he is quite a crazy guy and we assumed he may have went off partying on his own, it happened before it could've happened again.
This morning at about 6am i received a phone call from a friend telling me a local fisherman had found his body down stream from where had last been sighted. I refused to believe him, told him to stop worrying and that Tom would be fine and I fell back asleep. When i woke up later it felt like a dream, "Did that really happen or was it all a nightmare?" I couldn't accept the truth. I was certain it was a dream and it was all good. I had to check my phone to see if i really did get a phone call but by that time the texts had already started coming through. I didn't want to believe it, but it had happened. A good friend of mine, only aged 25, had drowned in a river and there was nothing I or anyone could do about it.
I spoke to him only last week and he was having such a good time out there, he was supposed to be back within 2 weeks and we joked about him loosing his passport and not having to come back when he was supposed to. That conversation now means more to me than i ever knew it would.
I'm in a bit of shock at the moment, it hasn't sunk in yet and i don't think it's going to hit me for a few days. He was a happy go lucky guy (with a very questionable fashion sense, i always ridiculed him for what he wore) that wouldn't judge anyone and he was starting to get more and more parts offered to him through his acting career that was about to take off. If one person didn't deserve this end. It was him.
All i'm saying is enjoy every day like it's your last! You only get one life so make sure you love and laugh through every minute of it.
Not sure what I am trying to achieve by posting this other than get it off my chest. We may argue about games and platform differences but at the end of the day, it's only games. You lot are my extended internet family, I don't know any of you personally but it doesn't change that I love the community here. Stay safe PSU.

Sorry for your loss.
I agree with with everything you wrote. I have never lost a close friend but I have seen a lot of people die that were nowhere near ready.

very sorry to hear about your friend, my thoughts are with you mate
I just wanna say as well that you shouldn't feel weird or bad if you greive differently than other people, everyone deals with these things in their own ways, and only you know how you can deal with situations like this.

I'm sorry pal...Losing someone is a surreal experience. Nothing feels real, you feel as though you should wake up and things will be back to normal, as they should be. I hope that time proves to be a speedy healer for all those involved.

I guess it is a part of life, coming to terms with accepting death. Just horrible when someone was taken before they deserved to be taken.
I can't stress enough how big of a thank you i want to say to each and everyone of you who took the time to read and send condolences. Massive respect for that.I Like Games.

I am truly sorry that you had to lose a good friend. My condolences and I hope that you feel better as time passes. I sort of know what it's like. I lost a really close friend that I considered family a long while back, but due to a disease he had. Again, my condolences bud. Stay safe.

My cousin drowned when he was little... drowning is a really sad way to go... but the loss of a friend is sad regardless. I'm sorry for your loss. :\

I've had to go through this too many times BBK. I feel for ya. When I was sixteen, a group of friends were at one of our good friends house. We were all wrestling, play fighting, and such. Pushed the kid against the wall, and a loaded shotgun fell off the wrack it was on. It went off and shot the kid in the face. He didn't die straight away. He died in only a few minutes after suffering. He was only 15 years old.
Another friend of mine was fixing a flat tire while he was on a two mile long bridge. A car hit his car, which through him over the rail, and he was killed when hitting the rocks that were in the water.
I was the lucky one. Died on the helicopter almost a year ago after that wreck, and they were able to revive me.
You just never know when the time is going to come for you, or anyone else. Live each day to the fullest.

I'm really really sorry to hear that BBK. That is devastating news and I hope you along with his family and other friends feel better soon.
Must not be easy to talk about it but your underlying message to live life to it's fullest is something that people need to be reminded of every now and then, so thank you

I'm sorry for your loss BBK! Losing a friend is very hard and makes you think 100 times before you do anything later on.

To see them smiling one day to later realize that they won't be there to greet you ever again. I can't understand what you're going through since my friends are well but I can imagine what might happen. I do agree wholeheartedly to live life to it's fullest. Make sure to pull smiles from their faces and give them a worthwhile experience. Sure, you might end up looking silly at times but if you are successful in bringing some laughter's, then it was worth it.
No treasure is greater then the memories you make with the people you care about.
