I bought the 80 GB partial BC motorstorm bundle, and I doubt I would of got a PS3 when I did if it wasnt for the reports of BC being completely removed. Would easily pay another $50-$100 for a PS4 with BC in it, at the very least I'd want PS1 and PS3.

yep, if you have the old consoles for your old games... I see no point in paying extra for something that makes no sense, since you have the old console to play them on

Not interested in BC. I move on to the next console because I am finished with the previous generation.

My 80gb bc console just died 2 weeks ago, but I never once put a PS2 game inside it.

For me its not about BC, its about the space. My entertainment stand can hold two console, and a some games, on the main shelf. I'd rather not pack up my 360 till im 100% done with it.

That's the same for me, I won't be selling any of my PS consoles, but the convenience of having an all in one box is amazing, my 32GB Wii is my NES, SNES, N64, GCN, Wii, Sega Master System, Mega Drive, GameBoy, GameBoy Color, GameBoy Advance, ScummVM, Atari 2600 and ZX Spectrum all in one. And it is awesome.

In fact I bought to play anything but Wii games (except from a small few).

I get that... But to save money it is better to have the old consoles to play old games on

If the ability is not on the next gen consoles

    1. No PS3 emulator
    2. It isn't always feasible to do so. I'm an English teacher, so I often live out of the country. I would have to make a choice... Which ONE system would I bring?
    3. What does this have to do with PS4?

I actually will be pissed if the PS4 doesn't play PS2 and PS1 games. PS3 would be too hard to emulate, but there are great PS2 emulators on much lesser PCs that have to run WINDOWS, so they have no excuse except the money they could make reselling the games in modified, playable form.

i thought the whole idea of having BC in a console was to say to people who're looking to buy one "hey, you remember all those games you bought for our last one, well they still work and you can carry on buying the latest ones, so why not get yourself a better piece of equipment and not buy yourself one from anyone else"

If you don't put BC into a console you're giving people who bought the past consoles a reason not to carry on the chain because they could easily buy the others on the market and have a fresh start and a different experience, at least if they're not as clued in with what the strengths and weaknesses of the console are and aren't as easily swayed by brand name... maybe thats just me though... i loved the fact that my PS3 would upscale more than half of my PS2 games and play them through a HDMI cable. I've even carried on playing my older games (while still having a PS2 hooked up - but games look so much less impressive on it i only use it if theres a game my launch PS3 can't handle) so i'd love for the PS4 to be able to play any of my previous games and still have a crisp clear picture if i get an itch for some retro gaming

Don't go around believing that Great Wizards solve all your problems, because there aren't any and they don't and I should know because I'm not one...

I wouldn't spend extra for BC. Not only will I keep my PS3 for some time but is also gonna go unused. It's just bragging right at this point for me.

Does it BOTHER you that I mention Steam or pc? Isn't it THE LEAST relevant that to mention it? It matters to me and probably factors into many others' view on the matter..

And why would you be pissed that Sony doesn't do something that isn't the norm? The part about them reselling old PS1 and PS2 games I can agree with though. They absolutely SHOULD add emualtion to their next PS as an extra service too gamers.

I think you're being a bit too sore about it though.

@ XperienZ: What would happen to the PS3 console sales if they announced PS3 bc for PS4? What message would it send to those who recently bought PS3?

So, for those of you that said you either would rebuy the old games, you refuse to pay, or you weren't interested, if sony allowed you to hook up your old systems that you already own, would you do it?

well i think its kinda dumb to have to pay for bc..
I mean its all about charging people for features and what not..just a way of getting money out of you.
older consoles were just bc already like ps2. so on.

The first adopters of the PS4 are surely going to be the ones that already had a PS3 in the first place, given the fact my point was that those with PS3 games are going to choose a PS4 instead of an XBoxWhatever because their games still work on the newer console.

Anyone that can't afford a PS4 is still going to buy a PS3 if they know all the games they play on it will still work when the price of the PS4 reduces or they win the lottery.
