Never did play the first 2 games. I'm not typically a first person shooter fan, nor have I been the largest fan of survival horror games. That being said I didn't give the first 2 titles a second glance, however since seeing footage of Infinite and realizing there was a sort of 'super powers' system included with some depth of story/etc....infinite kind of shows more appeal to me.
So my question is, how stand alone-ish is this title supposed to be? Or is it imperative that I play the first 2 games. The setting in this new one looks very different, leading me to believe it might be its own game entirely.
Thoughts?

Can I play Bioshock Infinite without having played the previous titles?

If I remember correctly, this was a different universe. If not, then it's at least set before Rapture, so it is stand alone.
However Bioshock 1 and 2 had powers and a good story, they also aren't survival horrors.

You get Bioshock 1 free with infinite, so either way your covered.

(Bioshock 2 was made by someone else, and is by far worse -- and for the most part doesnt need to exist)

I loved Bioshock 2 from a gameplay perspective. Dual wielding weapons and plasmids, improved hacking, sister defence, mini turrets and trap item etc. It was a lot of fun.

Oh baby! How I can't wait for this game. This year has been good to me by far so far.
I talk to myself because I'm the only one whose answers I accept.

They're different universes, yeah.
I think I would have preferred it being the same universe though. I like the idea of a game world being expanded on with sequels or a new IP. Similar to what Rockstar did last-gen with GTA and Manhunt.Steam & PlayStation Network: BlacksitePSU | 3DS Friend Code: 1349-4916-2054
