I reckon the game stores will be in on it as well. You can trade in your now useless disc into GAME/gamestop for a few pennies then they re-sell it with a validation code from the publisher. Everyone wins except the consumer

Nobody bother to read the bit about Kinect being handled by the system, not impacting on game app at all..
That's pretty much confirmation that there is a system CPU, independent of the game system CPU's.

With the "always on" "always connected" design, users will quickly and easily enjoy their connected console entertainment experiences with no waiting for the console to restart or install updates.

That does NOT mean an online connection is required to play, they are merely stating that the network will always be checking for updates.

Who was HONESTLY excited for the new Xbox, anyways?
I mean, yeah I prefer XBL to PSN just for the simple fact of Xboxs' party system and ease of being with your friends online. I still wish the PSN would work like that. I'm hoping that the PS4 takes influence from the Xbox 360 and makes it more user friendly when it comes to parties. I may buy an Xbox 360 right now just so I can play with my friends easier.

Kinect always, ALWAYS needing to be connected? That's such bull! Kinect is garbage and motion control is a gimmick and always will be. True gamers don't want or need it, I think they're incorporating it just to make 'family sales'. Because let's face it, who uses motion control and thinks its a contributor to a fun gaming experience? Children and families. I think this alone let's us all know that the Durango, 720, whatever the final name will be, is and will be marketed for the family demographic, rather than the hardcore gamers.

We'll see though, it's too early to decide on what your opinion will be.

Same here. Always connected is actually a good thing IMO. So far I don't see anything that's a deal breaker. It actually sounds pretty good if it's all true.

Having always connected connect is no different than having an always connected video signal or xbox controller, its part of the system, if it comes with it, it has to be connected.

It doesn't mean devs have to use it at all, although knowing its is on all machines, and that it hold zero impact on game resources may open it up (if its fast/high res enough).

Microsoft’s next console will require an Internet connection in order to function, ruling out a second-hand game market for the platform. A new iteration of Xbox Live will be an integral part of Microsoft’s next console, while improved Kinect hardware will also ship alongside the unit.

After their sources checked out with the ps4, I have no reason to doubt them with the 720 rumors.
