Sony Patents method to award trophies based on disc access

Yeah, we don’t know what’s this about either, but it does sound intriguing.
Sony has filed a new patent which details different methods of offering trophies to users. The one that was discovered is called “Method and Apparatus for awarding trophies”.

“A method and apparatus for adding trophy support games that do not have trophies without modifying the original game,” the patent states.

“The method and apparatus are used to detect particular disk access, use the detected disk access as potential trophy triggers in games, and recognize the triggers while a game is played. Trophies are awarded based on the triggers, and the awarded trophies are stored.”

This patent was filed in September last year and was published today. Here’s a diagram of the thing.

The diagram has an official explanation as well, and it gives an idea of how it works.
“A method for assigning one or more trophies to a user, comprising: accessing media content; defining one or more trophies; defining a trigger associated with the media content; detecting the trigger during media content access; and assigning the one or more trophies to a user account that is associated with the user in response to the detected trigger.”

Could be to fight trophy glitches. You know when the game reads a certain portion of the game that is only designed to be read in a certain event in the game the trophy is pinged to the system. Just a guess. Really don't don't know what it could be.

I hope it allows to "buy" some missing trophies with the time you spent on the game, I finished TR Underworld 2 times (maybe 35+ hours) and got about 50%, over 100 hours of Amalur (about 60%), played Prince of Persia 2008 maybe 40 hours (about 55%). I play to relax not to reach some goals set by someone else, I just do what has to be done in a game to go on.
The ony game that was somewhat logical for trophies was DCUO : have a character to max level for each mentor and movement power , have a platinum in a race (gold), unlock the roles (lvl 10, silver) so the easy ones will be had fast, and the difficult ones will take you time BUT they're interesting to get as the storylines will be different for each mentor.
