Bioshock Infinite was EXPENSIVE!!!!!

Making games is expensive. Making extremely high profile AAA games is expensive-er. According to the New York Times, 2K Games plans to spend over $200 million on BioShock Infinite – $100 million for development and $100 million for advertising.


$200 million doesn’t make BioShock Infinite the most expensive game ever made (that title still belongs to Star Wars: The Old Republic), but it certainly puts it in the running. Honestly, it’s sort of surprising to hear that 2K has invested so much into Infinite, the original BioShock wasn’t exactly a massive seller compared to some of the other multi-platform franchises on the block.

Not surprising if true. Big blockbuster games are going to cost more and more in the future.

Damn! That is crazy. Never would have guessed that. I think there is a great amount of hype surrounding this game. So I think they will do pretty well in the end.

If that's true then the gaming industry is like Hollywood. Because big budget movies cost that much to make and market as well. That's insane.
