It's not something that you need to play the first Bioshock to understand. Quite the opposite. I've found that this game serves more as a prequel, where if you played this first it would probably help you follow the Bioshock plot better.

Perhaps saying they were in no way connected was going too far, but nothing that happens in the first Bioshock game is directly translated to this one. It's the other way around, this game takes place 40 years earlier, so it's Infinite that translates to the first game.

It's a prequel, not a sequel. The first Bioshock hasn't happened yet, so nothing that happens in it effects this game.

I am interested in hearing your thoughts on the ending. Please let us know what you thought of it when you finish the game.

I personally think everyone needs to play the original Bioshock to fully appreciate this game.

I'm about to play the PS Plus trial of the game. Given the unanimous positive reviews I'm seeing, I'd say this will be a purchase for me. Although I am curious: Even if this game is fantastic, is it worth the $60, or should I opt to rent it instead?

The only disapointing thing about this game is the lack of choices or multiple endings, this easly could be a game where you wanna replay to experience differnts events.

The best endings are not multiple-choice ones.

You only get an hour to play it don't you? Unfortunately the first hour is more of an introduction so there isn't any gun play really.

Do yourself a favor and buy the game there has never been any game more worth $60 than this one IMO.

Yeah it's really just a prologue so to speak. I think it was about an hour or so before I got to the gun play.

Only about a half an hour in, but here's what I have to say: This game looks awesome. I've heard that the PC version outdoes the console versions visually, but there's no room to complain; I found myself immersed in a vibrant, beautiful world that isn't rivaled by many games. I've only scratched the surface of the other portions of the game, but it truly is a piece of art, and one I intend on buying.

I'm glad you're enjoying yourself so much and plan on buying it. Being that you're only a half an hour in, I don't think you've gotten too much combat, if any, but it really is incredible. So if the beautiful visuals and great story hasn't sold you yet, you can look forward to the combat as well. Seriously, it probably is some of the most fun combat I've played in a game in a long time. While the actual gun fighting might not be anything super special, it's the use of your powers "vigors" and of course the skyline that make the gameplay something very special. So many times I just thought to myself, "WOW" after a fight because it was just that much fun. There really is nothing like the skyline battles in other video games and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

I like that there is only one ending, especially since it is so good. I also feel the game has a ton of replay value, at least for me. I mean not only is it a fun and interesting game that I just like to play, but also being able to now see things and better understand them because of the ending is very exciting.

Aite so I got this yesterday even though I really shouldn't have. Played bout an hour last night but gonna wait til my clawpad arrives from amazon before jumping in fully.

First impressions: Wow it's pretty! Gunplay is improved, still not brilliant, but better. Performance is a little shaky, will have solid 60fps then at seemingly random times it falls off a cliff for a few seconds then climbs back up.

One big disappointment/annoyance so far: No manual saving. Why why why why? It doesn't even tell you when it's auto saving lol

    EXACTLY!
I'm really considering firing it up in 1999 mode and doing it again...and I'm the kind of person that rarely ever (EVER) plays througha single player game a second time in less than a year or two.

Could not agree more. I too feel like it's my favorite game ever, but I'm going to give it another playthrough as well before I can officially say that. Such an amazing game though!

Agree. At 37 one is too old for that. Unless one lives in your parents basement, which atleast I do not.
