My thoughts on Saints Row IV

I've been reading more about Saints Row IV and I think I might have overreacted a bit with the reveal trailer. Like most people, I was disappointed. It looked like $60 DLC for Saints Row: The Third. After reading an article on Destructoid though, creative director Steve Jaros mentioned that very little of Enter The Dominatrix was salvaged for Saints Row IV.

Gematsu's PAX East 2013 preview mentions you’ll sometimes go outside of the simulated Steelport into the real world without powers. Being able to travel outside of the simulated Steelport is good news, considering they haven't changed much. It's supposed to be around the same size and they feel it will be a new city to players because of the way you can move around with your powers.

In an interview with Dealspwn, Scott Philips mentions that they were happy with the positive reception to the series' new direction. That they were focusing on making it fun. I admit, Saints Row: The Third was fun and I put a lot of hours into it but I would have liked to see the series return to a balance of seriousness and over-the-top. Stilwater proved to be more interesting in its overall design than Steelport (even if the graphics looked like ass).

Not only that but, considering the protagonist is the President of the United States, he should be able track down Dex. I'm hoping that's what happens later in the game. I never played the original Saints Row so I watched some cutscenes after completing Saints Row 2 a while back to better understand the situation.

Anyways, I don't think too many people are excited for Saints Row IV. Maybe that will change when Deep Silver release a proper trailer but right now I'm being cautiously optimistic.

I'm still not sold enough to purchase this for $60. I'll end up getting it once it's cheap

Destiny and Middle Earth: Shadows of Mordor is all I need for the rest of the year.

Im not really sure about it, TBH. I mean, I was hoping it would of been a new title not something that seems like it should be a spin off, of sorts.

Though im curious if this branches off the "good ending", or the "bad ending". I hope its not the latter, though with the end of the good ending thats not likely. :/

I'm assuming it's the good ending, like most games. There are three women in the promotional art for Saints Row IV (Shaundi, Kinzie and Viola, I think). If you chose to go after Killbane, both Shaundi and Viola are killed.

Didnt see the promo image, so knowing Shaundi is still there I'm very much happy with that. Like her a lot more then Pierce.

I was also hoping SR4 would go a bit more seriou

Did you guys play the dlc for Saints Row the Third? I can't recall the name of the dlc but some of them had super powers in them. I recall being able to run faster than a car lol. It was pretty cool. It was different but didn't last enough.

They say that they stripped down that planned expansion pack and built on to it enough to call it a full game. It just seems like a last minute current gen cash grab. I want a sr5 on next gen consoles. SR3 just left a bitter taste in my mouth after looking at all the cool $#@! that they left out from sr1 and sr2.

    Good read man.

I'm also pretty cautious about it but I want to be great.

2 is the best in the series imo

Now since this is the last game in the series, it makes sense to out with a crazy bang and to make it last as long as possible with a $#@! LOAD OF DLC's that are sure to come out...

But i think since it was a direct competition game too GTA, it has failed in it's attempt to expand in that area of free roaming. With the first siaint's row being down right awesome and the second one as well... I did not expect them to ruin the series with this silly and straight out $#@!ty path they took.

I played and thought SAINT'S ROW THE THIRD was lazy and it never actually reflected what the series could have been and that is AWESOME, UNIQUE and competition for any free roaming game to come out and challenge it... But no they went in a direction of being just about the lazy creation

I can not even put myself through another one of these $#@!ty games and think it will impress me what so ever... I just lost interest after Saint's row 1 and 2... The third i played all the way through and i lost hours i will not get back and i fear if i played this, the end result will be the same..

I hope that sense this is the last in the series... They comeback and go back to their roots and make a true sequel to Saint's row 2 and make it on the PS4 and XBOX720 or a true sequel to Saint's row 1, because these two games deserves true sequels to make the series what it was meant to be and that is a gangster game with wee added fun bits

The third and this new one, have killed this series so much so that it will never truly return with a true sequel to the FIRST and SECOND games of the series... The roots have been destroyed and this series has lost it's meaning of being a free roaming game...

It is a freaking joke now and the sooner it ends the better... They really need to go back to their ROOTS

I've noticed that with most games. Like, there's something about the third game in a series that has it fall short of its predecessor.

So you go to a different version of STEELPORT.... But can you go back to the original STEELPORT

One other thing, the city is still the same size, so what is the point
