" Stewart Gilray: Now we are working on PS4 and are incredibly excited by that prospect for the future. We’ve had no communication at all with Microsoft on their new system, so I really can’t comment on that at all. But PS4 seems like a fantastic system, we’ve had kits for a while, and it is as people say, incredibly easy to develop for, as it is a lot closer to a PC system than ever before. Some of the ideas Sony have for the way it all works are truly inspiring and we are happy to be working with them again."

Hmm...so how many companies actually do have Microsoft next-gen dev kits?

I can't be sure but it seems Sony has passed theirs around a lot more. Maybe they are closer to releasing than MS is?

I'm looking forward to their next game.

Even New N Tasty will probably be a purchase for me.

Who thinks PS4 is a joke? I've not seen that in the gaming press or forums.

Just go to wiki and read about it.....

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oddworld

Then Youtube some of the titles to see it in action.

It's a platformer series that started on PS1, then Xbox and on PSN for PS3. It's fun, quirky and funny. Their voices and farting will crack you up. I highly recommend!

BTW folks....it's easier to program then the PS3. Of course devs are gonna back it.

This is good news, and after reading the CVG article about MS not attending GDC I'm starting to think MS may have problems on their hands or are being very foolish
    Point 1
Developers have had PS4 devkits for a while, the announcement just increased its ram
Every game being announced might as well be PS4 exclusive because to the public eyes and for developers as their is no Nexbox and for most( even major developers who have now announced nextgen games) there is no Nexbox dev kits and they know nothing
Now don't read my post and get all X.D.F on me
I'm sure MS has something great in mind or even something better then we expect
and if they do they are keeping their support line in the dark, us and the media don't matter
But developers should know what going on otherwise MS could be $#@!ed
Especially when it comes to launch titles
Hopefully more is revealed next month and devs can get a crack on with developing for the nexbox if they get dev kits.

I'm sure devs have messed around with MS devkits for some time but since the NextBox hasn't officially been revealed, everyone has to wait......

This. I never notice these differences that people say happen on 360. I just play the damn game. If it works it works.

Easy to develop on means lower threshold which means maximum reached sooner.

I can understand that sentiment, but when the graphics processors are current generation to PC (rather than a generation behind like Xenos and RSX were), what's the need for "hidden power"?

Besides, the Japanese developers we all love are a little behind when it comes to PC-centric development. We'll see great games from them and it will only get better as the generation progresses and Sony's tools get better as well. We've crossed over the threshhold where a few more ROPs here and a clever shading technique will save cycles there. A more balanced and utilitarian approach means developers will spend more time making solid gameplay and less time debugging the stuff that doesn't work.

It will net a win-win. Ironically, give it time to show you

easy to develop for also means that the risk to cost is much, much lower. We will see much more newer things with the PS4 compared to the PS3. More advancements, more risk, we will see it all.

You know, I never understood why people said that it's better that PS3's power wasn't completely tapped so that it will always improve. That makes no sense to me.

If you could make the games that are out right now, back in 2007, why not?

Actually it was the fact that people didn't understand the PS3's power. Which was that it is difficult to retrieve it because you need to create a game from scratch or customize the engine. So you were naturally limited and did show a substantial improvement each year or installment.

So it had more power than the 360 but it was difficult to achieve, a stupid move but overall it did show more power. If we could have that power of PS3 with ease and in early stages, I don't think anyone should rather go for the former.

If you can achieve the max now, do it! I wouldn't want it any other way.

We'll see. For some reason though, I'm a bit more skeptical than the average person. This generation proved something to me. It proved that games publishing companies don't give a crap about putting out quality games. With the exception of Most Wanted in the very beginning of this generation, EA has failed to capitalize on any of the inherent strengths of the PS3. Ubisoft has started pumping out Assassin's Creed every year for the past three years and with Assassin's Creed IV making it four years in a row , it seems that this will be the new normal. Other companies like Activision only care about the next COD and all seem hell bent on micro-transactions in the form of DLC.

I guess we'll see though. Maybe I'll be impressed and surprised.
