We Got Next - PlayStation's New Platformers

    "We Got Next"

Tearaway, Knack, and Puppeteer. PS Vita, PS4, and PS3 are all getting new platformers. All of which look very very good.

Tearaway is Vita Exclusive and uses all of the Vita's unique features.

Knack is PS4 exclusive and will be a launch title to show off the PS4's strong capabilities. Knack will be playable on Vita through PS4's Gakai streaming.

Puppeteer is a PS3 exclusive as of now
, but I don't see why they couldn't port it to Vita and PS4.

Which one are you looking forward to the most?

I am looking forward to ALL of those games, even Tearaway, though I'll never get it because I don't buy hand-helds.

Puppeteer looks beautious. It will be one of the last PS3 titles I get for sure before making the jump to PS4.

Knack...I will play the hell out of that game on launch. I love platformers about as much as tail.

Knack has grown on me so much since the reveal. I'm really looking forward to it.

None of them tbh, Dont like handheld gaming so no interest in Vita and thought Knack looked awful...Hopefully Rayman will be on PS4 soon enough though.

None of them, they've got nothing on Mario, Crash Bandicoot, Sly etc.

We haven't seen anything but a trailer. If the vibe and style that the game was giving off doesn't mesh with someone's personal tastes, I could see him thinking it looked awful. Conversely, you could as easily have asked: How did it look good?

As for the games: I was excited when I read this thread title, and was expecting a reveal of characters that might come to match Jak, Sly, Ratchet, Crash, Croc, etc.

I don't think any of these games save maybe Knack have a chance of doing that. Tearaway looks like it might be fun. It also looks like it will be shoving a few gimmicks down our throats. From what little I've seen of Puppeteer, it looks like a boring run-of-the-mill PSN platformer with a graphical budget behind it.

Easily answered. It looks good because it looks on par with some Dreamworks or Pixar movies, and thus looks easily better than every single game this generation.

And yet not everyone is a fan of the styles presented in Dreamworks and Pixar animations. You yourself mentioned your dislike for the child-as-savior trope presented in Ni No Kuni, and that it was enough to dissuade you from picking it up. I really like how Knack looks, but the art style is unique enough where it can draw some in as easily as it could push others away.

There's also the issue of us only having an idea of the gameplay rather than anything tangible to base our opinions off. We have our imaginations to guide us. I'm on your side, and think it looks promising. But I can see why others might not yet be convinced.

I don't give a $#@! if its a distaste for the design choice. That's fine.

But I need to hear a reason for it, because I'm completely baffled. Why? Because the first impression to me is that he thinks it looks awful graphically. That is the default reaction for that kind of phrasing that he used. If he thinks that, he is wrong. Flat out. There can be no opinion there, unless he's playing some games from the future.

If the art-style is what does not appeal to him, then all is fair.

Tearaway will probably be the best game out of them all, and get the best reviews.

    The problem? I don't have a Vita.

I voted for Knack before but now that I think about it I'm actually more interested in Tearaway. I thought the game looked very unique.
