To be honest I could see LucasArts going into administration this year if it wasn't for Disney picking them up, in a way Disney has done George Lucas a favour and kept the Star Wars franchise going. As far as I'm concerned the last game LucasArts made as a developer that was actually good was Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader, after that all other LucasArts developed games were gash. The other Star Wars or licenced IPs were not even developed by LucasArts and those that were partly developed in-house were also garbage.

Seeing as LucasArts is now going to be solely licensing IPs instead (most likely only a few people working under the company for this reason) I'm glad that Disney has closed the studio down and stop the company from getting worse. To be honest Star Wars 1313 might look impressive but it honestly didn't seem like it would play that way. I'm not going to let nostalgia cloud my judgement on the studio as the 90's held some of my all-time favourite games which just happen to be developed by LucasArts, but since 2001 they've just been doing poorly.

I hope the ex-employees find a new place to work or even help working on the new Episode 7 film but it is again sad news in the industry. Maybe it's just me but it seems like the way the industry is going is that large studios is becoming a thing of the past - after all the industry is still in its infancy.

Sooo many game that I loved (and still do) came from LucasArts or Lucasfilm Games in the early days, to name a few in no particular order:

    Maniac Mansion
    The Secret of Monkey Island
    Monkey Island 2
Indiana Jones and the fate of Atlantis
    Jedi Knight series
    Rogue Squadron Series
    Empire at War
Star Wars Supremacy aka Star Wars Rebellion
X-Wing Series (Loved TIE Fighter most)
    LEGO Star Wars 1 & 2
Battlefront 1 & 2 (Still gutted there will be no 3rd installment, not counting the PSP games)
    Knights of the Old Republic
Star Wars Galaxies - the only MMO I ever enjoyed and all still pale in comparison to what that game tried to achieve in its early days.

A lot of these were only published by LucasArts so maybe there is some hope for a good Star Wars game in the future.

Well that blows. Nice work Disney.

Focus. Control. Conviction. Resolve. A true ace lacks none of these attributes. Nothing can deter you from the task at hand except your own fears. This is your sky.
