Most of the time I only get the error with subscribers threads, but occasionally I do get it with other threads.
    I can read your thoughts.

Yeah guys, obviously there are still issues... part of the issues however, are part of the troubleshooting process. I wasn't informed that the tech guys were going to be mucking about and causing some issues, so I apologize that I could not pass that along to our members.

Sadly though, the root cause of the server issues is still unclear. The disabling of the two plug ins features HAS helped quite a bit, but we still have DB issues. We are investigating the possibility of moving PSU to new hardware altogether and see if that clears it up.

I will try to keep you as informed as I can as information is passed to me.

Would it not be worthwhile looking at the possibility of 'rebooting' PSU? Like, wipe the vBulletin database completely (IIRC, the size of the database can put strain on the server) and start from scratch. Have everyone re-register on a 'vanilla' forum and install the plugin's one by one.

They can just do that on a test environment. No way they want to, or would actually benefit from it, on a live project.

Just to give everyone a heads up and apologize for all the server errors going on. The tech team is still trying to fix things up so we sincerely appreciate your infinite patience that you have been graciously showing us so far. It is very much appreciated by the team.

Forums were being a booty this morning, but right now, it is working smoothly. Keep up the good work. No one expects everything to be solved in a day. Biggest storm in console history is almost upon us, so make sure everything is as stable as possible now.

I've a feeling it's going to need it.

But it would benefit everyone, really. Rebooting the forum would wipe the post count - thus eliminating the occasional drama of veteran members vs newbies - and it allows PSU to find out just what plugins are causing problems for the forum. And with E3 coming up, with inevitable news/reveals about PS4, it would be the perfect chance to breathe life into PSU v2.0.

Do you have any idea the implications of wiping post count and SP totals would do? Just above here we have someone posting a complaint about 10k missing from their SP bank... but you propose wiping all of it blank slate? In June 2010, when the vb.40 upgrade went through, there was talk briefly of all sp totals being lost and many people left pissed off. I can't imagine what wiping post counts would cause. I get PM'd about people missing 10 posts when a thread gets sent to the trashcan... LOL

I agree that something needs to be done and possibly radically, and have proposed it many times in the past that we need to abandon vbulletin for a cheaper, more easily modified forum software solution.

Cost just weighs into it at this point. Moving a site this large to a different software suite and set up is expensive from what I have been told. However, as I have said in the past as well to the site guys, if we keep on this path of broken servers and $#@!ty vbulletin software, we will alienate our members.

All I can say guys is, we are aware of and are actively in talks with the tech guys for all of these issues and more. Wish I could offer a timeline, or even promise these 500 errors would go away, but sadly I can't as of yet.

Stick with us, we aren't ignoring the pleas of our members to fix this $#@!. It is annoying to us as it is to you, after all we use the site even more so than most members, so naturally it affects our abilities to get news and such out.

Again, as I learn more, so will you!
    LMAO
