To be honest I am the same but still, it is surprising to me that so many are like that.

I have Grandia set up and ready on my Vita, but it's a part of a massive backlog of games I have so don't know when I'l get around to playing it :/

I want to try Grandia myself, but RPGs where the main character is a child under the age of 19, REALLY tend to irk me.

I know a cool knight dude joins you later, but it seems like it would be excruciating for me until that happens. The rest of the characters look childish and cartoony besides him.

I only played Grandia II. I finished it, so I guess I liked it somewhat, but I remember thinking it was too repetitive. I think that was mainly due to the music being the same for nearly every field/dungeon.

Grandia 2 was easily one of my top favorites.

The music variation wasn't much, but I loved what was there.

That's a kickass battle theme! The limited music tracks would piss me off though. I always associate the great RPGs with having a great soundtrack too, especially pre-ps2 era where voice acting was rare

Grandia II's battle theme is very nostalgic. Sadly, the PS2 port suffered from a lower frame rate and some textures that would flicker or disappear.

I remember when it was originally released on the Dreamcast, it had rivaled Skies of Arcadia for best RPG but it was Skies of Arcadia that received an enhanced port for the GameCube.

When I was a kid I desperately wanted to play Beyond the Beyond, Wild Arms and Azure Dreams. Azure Dreams mostly for the cover, and Beyond the Beyond just sounds...epic. Wild Arms had a cool cover. If you've never played Lunar: The Silver Star Story Complete, DO IT. It is absolutely amazing, one of the best RPG experiences I've ever had.

I remember when I FINALLY got Star Ocean: Until the End of Time (again, because of the title being enchanting) and how disappointed I was. I thought it'd be like an RPG version of what Mass Effect turned out to be, me jumping around from planet to planet, with every planet being like a town in a normal RPG (y'know, the Star Ocean...) instead I was stuck on one planet and after six hours I just stopped playing and never went back to it.

Get Stella Deus: The Gate of Eternity. It's a PS2 classic that was recently put up on PSN.

It's a FF Tactics type of game from Atlus. Really good.

Will do. Is that the US psn or EU psn? Or both?

Recently bought Alundra after receiving a few recommendations on here.

Do let me know how that game is. I have been highly interested in getting it for a long time.
And Stella Deus looks pretty interesting. Tactics is my favorite game so I've been on a life-long quest to find a strategy game of comparable quality. The follow up tactics games are, in comparison, crap, and Disgaea is amazing, just not there. Heck, even Tactics Ogre isn't really satisfying me. Though that might just be due to all the choices Tactics Ogre presents, and I don't have the time to replay the game 1000x to see how each choice will affect the story.

Fate: the universal principle or ultimate agency by which the order of things is presumably prescribed; the decreed cause of events.

And enjoy Alundra. It's really hard though.

Stella Deus is wonderful. It has the main characters on top of generic character classes just like Tactics did too. You know, like nameless knights, mages, fighters etc that you can also use in your party.

I haven't read through the thread to see if these have been recommended already but the Arc the Lad Collection is a great set of games for PS1. It's on PSN pretty cheap too.

Really wish they would get Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne on PSN. Awesome game, but have to play it on my PS2.
