Snyder said there won't be any kryptonite in the film. Instead Superman's weakness will be his 'humanity'.

    1. There is no Kryptonite in this movie

    2. He's facing fellow Kryptonians, so it will finally be a fight between Superman and a physical equal (though Superman 4 did that already).

Anyway, great trailer, for arguably the greatest fictional character of all time.

I'm tired of superhero movies in general, and i'm not a big fan of superman, yet every trailer has intrigued me.

I really hope the sequel goes for a different villain we havent seen in live action before like Brainiac or Darkseid. Im really sick of Zod and Lex Luthor.

With that being said, I was quite amazed at the fact that I believe it was true when my brother mentioned that Superman never threw a fist in 'Superman Returns'. Good lord! I didn't realise that until I actually thought through the film in my head again.

All-star cast for an All-star character. Once I saw Russel Crowe, Kevin Costner, AND Lawrence Fishburne were ALL going to be in it the script had to have been good. If it was only one of them then it could have went either way, but not all three of them in the same movie.

I'm really glad that the script does seem to be of the original Nolan and Goyer collaboration. And the whole production design has far different feel from the other iterations. Things have a more tactical and "meat-ier" feel. Like their armor which is NOT slim. And anyone notice that Lawrence, Crowe, and the Zod actor are all heftier? Not fat, but they aren't the typical tall, slender type like before.

And as was mentioned before, Superman's costume is different. I'm liking it more and more.

It should be an awesome week for movies.

Pacific Rim and Man of Steel releasing two days from each other.

I got the dates wrong. Lol.

I've never been much in to superman but I saw the trailer earlier and I'm excited about this movie.

Focus. Control. Conviction. Resolve. A true ace lacks none of these attributes. Nothing can deter you from the task at hand except your own fears. This is your sky.

Got a feeling Pacific Rim is gonna take a hit, but we'll see. Iron Man 3 is still going fairly strong, Star Trek 2 just hit and Warner Bros is really pushing Man of Steel. PR might get kinda lost in-between the titans. Who knows though... Still... Starting prior to the weekend that Superman starts is a ballsy move. Might be a bad one.

See, that's the thing with these blockbusters that I don't get, the release dates...Iron Man 3 had perfect timing, but now that Fast 6 and Hangover 3 are releasing the same day within each other, they're competing with one another and also taking the momentum from Star Trek, which is clearly the better film of these two. Now, fast forward to Man of Steel. Opens same week as Pacific Rim. I know for sure Man of Steel will take it to the bank, driving less momentum from Pacific Rim because the actors aren't that well established.

Don't studios have control over the release dates? I know they have to honor contracts, but GI Joe 2 got pushed back one year and so did the sequel to 300, which was supposed to open this august. It's not something that requires too heavy discussion, but I'm trying to see it from the POV of the director/producer/studio who is losing money. That really sucks, going up against another big boy, when it could easily be avoided by pushing back, or releasing it sometime else, regardless of trailers and PR hype.

Studios control the dates, unless someone says "this needs more work" and then they talk about pushing it.

For the blockbusters, it's all about the spring to summer season. April to July are the key. No one wants to do August or September (unless it's a smaller film)... so when you have 8-10 blockbusters there's going to be overlap and competition. That's when marketing comes in.

I'm glad Snyder seems to be coming back to his senses with this film:

When we saw the first photos of Henry Cavill as Superman, all those months ago, the conversation about the changes to the suit began, and that was something they worked on for a long time.

"It has to read, at first blush, as Superman. We went through so many iterations of the costume and yes, Zack did try very hard to make the underpants on the outside of the costume work – there are nods to it, with the belt and with some of the side detail on the costume, and that just felt more appropriate to the movie we were making. The other thing that was important for Zack was that the costume not come out of nowhere. It had to have a reason. We were building a world. We go to Krypton and we see this world, and we see that everything has its place. If they’re in space he wanted it to feel like a space suit, and he wanted it to feel like the underlayer that they would maybe put armour over. It’s also a caped society, so when you go to Krypton he wanted to see variations of this costume. And knowing that it was a caped society he wanted that to be evident when we were on Krypton, so when Clark finally finds the costume and puts it on you’ve established where it’s come from."

It really does feel kryptonian and more alien than all the other iterations in the past. I love it. Also, when Tom Welling of Smallville see's the costume, he's gonna regret not putting on the Superman Returns costume in the series finale, and just CGI'd it. Fuck you, Tom Welling.
