Sony Plans Another Event in Brazil?

Ok guys Ps4 reveal soon i hope

Two days prior, Microsoft finally – and I can’t put enough emphasis on the word “finally” even if my last breaths of life were dependant on it – announced their event, in which I, much like all of you, are hoping for a console reveal. Come May 21st, we will all be enlightened.

In the mean time, Sony seems to have formulated a devious plan as well. According to the well-acclaimed Brazilian gaming website, OuterSpace, Sony is planning another sort of conference, or something like it, in Brazil. On May 7th in Sao Paulo, something Sony and PlayStation related is more than likely to go down. Even though Sony hasn’t affirmed nor denied this rumor, it may be a surefire possibility given Microsoft’s recently announced reveal

Why would they do it in Brazil? If any other country besides the USA I thought their choice would be Japan. As to the date.....if I were Sony I would plan it the day after the Microsoft one. Let them get a few hours of hype then pull the rug right from under their feet attention right back to Sony. That might be really mean thing to do. Sony needs to show some sort of class.

I don't see Brazil being too competitive for either company. Just because Japan is no competition for MS doesn't mean they can't hold a simple press conference there. The only competition I see being in Brazil is the Olympics.

Brazil is a piece to Sony's long term pie. Tokyo game show is for japan. It's a major event. They don't need to hold a simple press conference there.

    Brazil is hosting the Olympics.
Didn't they still sell PS2 in Brazil after everywhere else stopped selling them?

Sony is on a roll with these events. You can just tell they're going to push the PS4 to the moon.

It'll just be aimed at South Americans that they'll get PS4 same time as everywhere else unlike previous consoles where they get them years later. Wouldn't expect anything big.

I don't expect anything big either. Not trying to put down Brazil or anything, but I don't see Brazil as a core market for gaming console compared to some other countries. Emerging economy? Yes. Emerging market for gaming console? Maybe, or relatively not.

I think Brazil is far from a core market compared to other parts of the world. Asia, North America and Europe are where the main three companies focus their attention. Africa and SA are secondary. If they want a lot of attention they will do it in one of those three areas. Even Oceania is becoming more of a focus for the companies. If they do it in Brazil it will just be a recap for them to see. Just because Japan has TGS doesn't mean anything for possibility for a separate press conference. The US has three major game conventions(E3,PAX Prime, PAX East) or six if you count NYCC, SDCC and GDC. And yet they held the press conference in NYC. My point being just because a country has a convention doesn't mean it cant do a press event.
