Vgleaks: Durango Always Online, No Internet Connection need for games/apps

We want to stand out these points; we keep our word about the always online. Durango won’t need internet connection to run games or apps (Games & Apps that you can run without internet, obviously).

This makes perfect sense. Always online for background updates, patches, etc. This is what it should be anyway. If you have a connection, it's connected.

What makes this rumour definitive over the other conflicting ones that appear daily?

It makes more sense than the conflicting ones. The other way would be console suicide especially if Sony isnt doing it.

There has only ever been one "conflicting rumor".

People forget this, if I'm on live, I'm constantly getting information from the servers in regards to who's online, what they are playing etc etc
I think the only difference is, a lot of the features that they want to implement will be online based, will become more realtime than ever before.

Not only will you be able to tell what you friend is playing, they will likely let you watch him, or his last achievement video etc etc.

And, BTW Ive been thinking about backwards compatibility, after looking at all the plethora of games etc on live, I cant see this being anything but a win if they do choose B/C. Not so much for disc based games but defiantly for digital content.
I mean look at all that content you cant still play on you next console straight away.

Not really. The next gen will be on even when it's turned off (or should we say Stand-By?) . Games, apps, OS and most likely firmware will update when the console is in Stand-By mode so that we don't have to wait for these things when we power up like we do now. I think this is a great thing for both consoles. Although the Xbox OS updates take some time, PS3 updates can take FOREVER, especially of you're waiting for the update to play.

Well that's the main difference, and its been talked up by Sony, ie updates are just there when you start you console up. I just dont think people seem to be able to differentiate between "always online" and "must be connected to play".

Agreed. And PS+ already does something similar with the auto update option.

wouldnt classify it as "always online" then.

Always Online is when it NEEDS to be online else it doesnt work (Example: every game thats been "Always on" and had a major mess at launch since they had no offline mode)

Always on, not always online. People are confusing Always Online with Online required.

People have been doing this since they first heard about it and went from "always on, always connected".
To "always online" to "online required".

Its been driven by certain portion of population, we all know who.

As I said when it first came out..

Both console will be "always on (power), and always connected (internet)", if you have an internet connection plugged in.

This gen is already on when turned off because the 360/ps3 are never turned off. They are constantly in a low power mode until you unplug the power cord from the wall. How do you think you are able to send a wireless signal via the controllers to power them up when you think they are off?

So low power mode equal still connected.

I said from the beginning that people were confusing the two. I like the always online idea. Constant information will be sent to the console and you probably won't have to worry about signing in and out of XBL.

What about the rumour (rumor, which one is it lol) that single player games will also require Internet connection or the game will not booth. That's more of a concern Than an always online console.
