Video games are good for your brain

    http://www.nzherald.co.nz/lifestyle/...ectid=10881103

    Video games are....GOOD for you...!?!?

    $#@! me!

I'm shocked. THis must be the first article/research I've read in a while that isn't calling for the pitchforks and flaming torches against gaming/gamers.

Video games are good for your brain

It's been known for quite a long time now that video games increase spatial awareness. Been playing games since I was 3 and I always scored off the charts in spatial thinking tests.

All honest studies have shown that video games generally increase one's problem solving skills.

*except when it's Call of Duty

Even with games like COD, there have been studies where it shows that gamers had faster reflexes then people that weren't gaming.

It also helps you with multi-tasking. There are more benefits than bad (Unless you turn it into a bad addiction. You'll need help if that happens). People who show violent behavior are generally people with personal issues who just happen to play video games but that doesn't contribute to that. Heck, they've spent hundreds of millions on research only to confirm that gaming has no connection to violence.

There's actually numerous studies that show people who are more prone to violence become calmer after bouts of gaming because it functions as a way to for them to release their aggression. It gives them a safer outlet to release built up emotions and hormones. The same thing totally applies with porn and sexual aggression and assaults, too.

People always fear what they don't understand. Many of these people pointing fingers at video games are older and/or never played video games growing up so they just jump to conclusions because of a few isolated incidents where violent people just so happened to play video games. It's the straw that's the easiest to grasp at.

I can't say for sure whether or not video games have impacted any way I think or improved any of my cognitive skills, but I'll just say this, video games are fun and I enjoy them...and happiness is a good thing.

I saw an article from while back... actually written by a credible journalist (nytimes or something). the article states that kids who grew up playin video games are actually better at business.

Good thing I've been gaming for over 10 years. I'm way ahead of things

Focus. Control. Conviction. Resolve. A true ace lacks none of these attributes. Nothing can deter you from the task at hand except your own fears. This is your sky.

This is like the best kept secret. Video games are absolutely good for your development at a young age.

Instead the media only wants to focus on the negatives of gaming.

Video games in excess are bad for you, though. Moderation, people.

Exactly!! I hope someday people will stop blaming video games for their behavior and take responsibility for their own actions.
