I recently (yesterday) listened to the GiantBomb podcast regarding this. All in all Eve (the whole universe of both games) sounds pretty cool. Especially about the stories within the games.

But I'm not keen on paying a subscription fee.

I'm going to downlaod Dust 514 today and see how it is. Though I've heard it's not necessarily the best shooter (in terms of mechanics).

    #IndieStation4 and proud of it.

keep in mind its an RPG so its all relative

the Uprising build has done quite a bit to bridge the gap with its gameplay.

but as i say, its an RPG and with all RPG's it requires you to put in a bit of time before you truly know if its a good game or not...considering how those who have put in the time keep on playing....

also, its not out of beta and i've paid just about the cost of a full retail game. not bad for a game that is free to play

Wait, do you HAVE to pay or did you just buy DLC?

you do not have to pay

    i simply chose to

the mechanics of dust are very, very deep. real world cash is there to balance the game.
or (as in my case) offer a better(but not best) base fitting.

real world money will not get you the best stuff. that stuff you need to work for by playing the game

the way i play dust is to use my blueprints (infinite average equipment which cost real money) to play in the quick matches. what this means is, i am more effective than the starter stuff, but not the god king of space time. the matches payout ingame cash.

DUST CASH: isk (ingame) aur (real world)

the point of doing this is that my suits wont cost ingame cash (isk) to restock(equipment is lost when your merc goes down). so i can give that isk to the corp and also use it to buy the best ingame stuff.

in the end it all balances each other out. the only way to truly experience dust is to sign up to PSU's corp. squad up with a bunch of guys. and when the time comes, help PSU capture and own its own planet in EVE space
